U.S. deaths in Iraq exceed 9-11 count

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The U.S. military death toll in
Iraq has reached 2,974, one more than the number of deaths in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States, according to an Associated Press count on Tuesday.

1. Not everyone who died in 9/11 was American.
Bush exceeded that number a while back.

2. The WTC housed many nationalities
in their job duties. No, the attack did not hit only Americans. But what did Iraq have to do with it anyway?

4. Kind Of An Insignicant Comparison To Begin With.
I've never quite understood why these two things have been compared or the number anticipated until it is reached, for several reasons. First, as it turns out the war in Iraq has nothing to do with 9-11 anyway when it comes right down to it, so it's a faulty comparison on its face. Second, since not all of those killed in the attacks were American, the number itself is faulty to begin with. Third, if the premise of the war on terror to begin with, even if considered a faulty one, was to protect us from terror or terrorists, then those fighting and dying for the cause theoretically are doing so to save countless numbers from future attacks; a number that can't be quantified; not for the past attacks, as an act solely for retribution for the quantifiable number. Based on that premise, comparing the numbers means nothing since just because we've reached a toll beyond what had already been taken to initiate the war, it isn't those numbers that drive the war (theoretically); it's the numbers of those in the future our troops are attempting to save from tragedy.

So all in all, I consider this comparison to be one just for talking points, as opposed to one with any logical meaning. I do, however, think every life we lose over there is tragic and important and no matter what the total number is, regardless of comparison factors, it turns my stomach to hear of each lost life. May God bless our men and women over there and may the rest come home safely, and soon.

5. The monsters in charge of the US murdered many thousands
of innocents in Afghanistan even before they began the murder of 2/3 million in Iraq. The swine who now control the US military care no more about the deaths of the US troops than the near million they slaughtered in those two countries. All those murders are equally vile, but counting only US deaths as relevant is abhorrent.

7. That's for the backwash who still think Iraq is revenge for 9/11
For every idiot who is STILL saying someone has forgotten the "lessons" of 9/11....

That ought to put the last nail in THAT coffin.
