Bush defends Exxon: "DON'T expect any oil price breaks!"
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 04:37 PM by Bluebear

He feels our pain, dudn't he?
====

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - President Bush defended the huge profits of Exxon Mobil Corp. Wednesday, saying they are simply the result of the marketplace and that consumers socked with soaring energy costs should not expect price breaks....

Bush, a former Texas oilman, said of oil costs, "I think that basically the price is determined by the marketplace and that's the way it should be."...

• Bush dismissed the idea of increasing fuel efficiency standards for cars, trucks and SUVs as a way of curbing foreign oil dependence. "My plan is to diversify away from oil. ... You're asking questions about how you deal with cars running on gasoline made from oil, I'm telling you let's get some cars running on fuel other than oil."

• He rejected calls from some Republicans for the White House to disclose all its contacts with disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Bush said there was an investigation of Abramoff's activities and "to the extent they ask for information, they'll get it."

2. If it's all supposed to be determined by the marketplace
Then WHY are we still subsidizing oil companies to the tune of billions per year with tax breaks and outright corporate welfare handouts?

Why are we spending OUR military to 'secure oil supplies' for the benefit of Exxon?

Anyone who thinks this asshole gives a damn about the American People is a moron.

The robber barons are in control of our nation. They have 38% support. Unbelievable.

Some people will die before they admit they were wrong (kool-aid drinking Bush supporters, for example).

Here's Bush with his boss, holding hands, strolling through the garden:

7. My favorite is oil companies being paid to find oil
by the government. If you worked in the advertising industry, would you expect the government to pay you to think up ads? No, the fact that people would pay you for the ads you think up would be reason enough to think up ads. Only in bushworld does paying oil companies to find oil make sense.

12. He is so callous to the poor and middle classes
that he has no idea how this statement (among others) comes across. If I were the Dems, I would run this quote from now through the summer months when gas is again over $3/gallon.
