Harsh and to the point?...yes!
That is what I like about this rant.

Right Wing Americans are Getting What They Deserve

If there has ever been a case where people have lost the right to complain it is now. The blind faith and catatonic loyalty given to George W. Bush by what has to be the most uninformed political base in human history serves as justification for those of us in the “we told you so” crowd to tell them to shut up and take it like a man. As the average American drowns in the wake of the Bush tsunami I don’t want to hear so much as a peep from the millions who ridiculed the “intellectuals” who tried to warn them about this intellectually inert puppet and his fascist handlers.

As American soldiers and innocent Iraqis die by the hundreds each day, as the true costs of the Bush tax cuts and Medicare overhaul come destroy one family after another, as each child dies from asthma due to relaxed environmental laws, when an accident at a germ warfare facility wipes out a city, when our coastal cities end up under water because we ignored and exacerbated global warming, as new cancers and horrors arise because our food supply has been genetically modified without our permission and when we have to go to war with other nations because the global food chain broke and our seas no longer provide oxygen to breath and there is not enough food and air to support life on earth because our god damn president does not believe in science, every Fox News watching, Limbaugh listening, Hannitized, flag wearing, gay hating right wing Constitution bashing false patriot Bush supporter better shut up and take it because they made it happen! Bush supporters have nobody to blame but themselves and guess what, the rest of us should blame them too.

All I can say is that this is what you get for believing even for a moment what the US corporate media wants you to believe. The rest of us Bush haters are Bush haters for one reason and one reason only; we pay attention! So to my new former Bush supporting friends who seem to be suddenly surrounding me and telling me that I have been right all along: you can tell me I was right but after that shut the hell up because it is too late for forgiveness. From now on, just shut up and listen. Think about it!

45. which truth?
because things like this do not sound very much like truth

"when an accident at a germ warfare facility wipes out a city, when our coastal cities end up under water because we ignored and exacerbated global warming, as new cancers and horrors arise because our food supply has been genetically modified without our permission and when we have to go to war with other nations because the global food chain broke and our seas no longer provide oxygen to breath and there is not enough food and air to support life on earth because our god damn president does not believe in science"

Sounds like the same kind of "wishful thinking?" that fundies are looking forward to, except they expect to be raptured before this.

4. Why do the rest of us have to suffer along?
Yes, I'm old enough to realize that so many people have to learn the hard way. They have to suffer before they "get it".

But, damn! It's always poor folk who suffer first!

29. From those who "know better," better is required.
Edited on Tue Dec-26-06 10:21 PM by TahitiNut
If we're honest with ourselves, we know of many times we might have done more and for many of us it's much more. The time we kept quiet instead of defending a scapegoat (at the office or at school or in the 'hood) or the times we didn't attend a town coucil, board of education or other meeting of the "best government money could buy" and speak up against the petty abuses.

I say "we" ... I never exclude myself when I speak of 'people,' since I am one.

39. As a poor person, I don't get why I should suffer, even though I "know better"
I've done my part and more, and am still doing it.

Yet, I'm on the firing line.

Maybe that seems fair to you, but it isn't from my vantage point.

42. If life were fair, we wouldn't have to work to make it fairer.
Edited on Tue Dec-26-06 11:20 PM by TahitiNut
It's something I've had to remind myself of many times - that the doctor didn't promise me 'fair' when he pulled me out, drained the fluid, slapped me on the ass, and cut the umbilical cord. I've had (maybe more than) my 'fair' share of wrong-headedness ... and call them "learning experiences." At the same time, I've never had a glass that was so much emptiness that I couldn't locate the fullness. Furthermore, I'm not so sure I'd be the Universal Arbiter of Fairness ... so the most I can do is work for the version I think is closest. The only things I have control over are my thoughts, words, and actions ... and I'm sure not perfect with that. It's clear, therefore, I've still got work that needs doing.

Just commenting that DU members at that time were not swept up in the patriotic fervor. With his poll numbers in the upper 40's or low 50's prior to 9-11, I don't think that anyone here would have been a Bush* supporter.

Prior to 9-11 this board was wrapped up in the election theft and the fraud of "No Child Left Behind."

P.S. Welcome to DU!

As in...."weren't the rich jumping out of windows when the stock market tanked in 1929?" What happens when it's cheaper to burn dollars than to buy heating oil?

I'm mad as hell! And I believe in Justice (not punishment).

I believe Justice will win out eventually. I hope that I'm alive to see it....if not, In truth and justice I will trust.

40. Dammit, why can't I recommend this one more than ONCE???
I'm thinking more like 100 times or so. Dear God, this is SO close to my heart. It truly has colored the way I regard some of the people I know. Irreparably. Anybody who was pro-bush, AND THEN STAYED THAT WAY, even while the evidence started to break out into the open, well, let's just say this tells me more about them as people than I had ever wished to know - and all of it is BAD. Hell, WE all knew the truth. WE found it, virtually alone and unassisted, by studying, researching, scouring the internet, refusing to swallow the 15-second soundbites and agenda-driven spinmanship. And if WE could dig it out, WHY COULDN'T THEY??? And I'm talking about EVERYBODY who didn't. Both inside and outside the media. The media, of course, has no excuse whatsoever. All they had to do was keep asking questions and keep trying to think independently. That's ALL they had to do. Everyone else who was dependent, for the most part, on what the information brokers produced, has some excuse (not a lot, but some), but only for awhile. It was OBVIOUS. It was OBVIOUS to me, and to everyone here on DU, and to everyone else in the progressive underground, not to mention the vast majority of people around the world.

We TRIED it their way. We let them have their say-so. We had to sit there and take their abuse and their snide remarks and their insults and their bullying. So FUCK 'EM, then. NO PITY. NONE. The blood is on THEIR hands as much as it's on bush's and cheney's. The carnage is on THEIR hands as much as it's on bush's and cheney's. The looting and so many other kinds of fraud and theft are all on THEIR hands as much as it's all on bush's and cheney's. The violence and chaos and disruption and horror is ALL on THEIR hands as much as ALL of it is on bush's and cheney's. They do not get a Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card. They no longer can hide behind the "but, but, but, I just didn't know..." bullshit. Well, then, WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU TRY TO FIND OUT??? NO MORE. Not by now. They could have listened. They SHOULD have listened. The blame falls COMPLETELY on them, every bit as much as it does on bush and cheney. They're as much to blame as those two evil architects are, because they were ALL in position to stop it. They could have stopped it and didn't. REFUSED to stop it. REFUSED to see reason or truth or ANY counter-argument. So FUCK 'em.

Signed,
calimary
