3. There was one episode that was nominated by the NAACP for an award.
I think that was the episode where Dr. Martin Luther King wasn't successfully assassinated but was put into a coma for over 30 years before coming back to life.

Info on the episode:

It was great, and of course it was controversial. Al Sharpton be hatin' on it.

He was nominated by The NAACP Image Awards for the episode, and there were protests:

McGruder won the Chairman's Award from the NAACP for his strip in 2002.

4. I got the DVD set for Christmas...
And it's great! They have several commentaries for certain episodes, but the ones by "Uncle Ruckus" are just a total riot! I also enjoyed the video/audio comments by the production staff...

I am eagerly anticipating season 2... Any word on when it resumes production?

6. I haven't found any info on that.
I have heard some stuff about McGruder dropping the strip to concentrate on the show. But don't quote me.

Oh lord, don't ever quote me. :-)

7. Next episode at 12:00 PT: "Return of the King"
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 03:08 AM by Kurovski

When Martin Luther King comes out of a coma after 32 years and finds himself thrust into the 21st and life in the post "September 11th" era, his "turn the other cheek" philosophy quickly takes him from beloved national hero to dispised terrorist sympathizer.

9. ON NOW! (1:00 AM, PT) "Riley Wuz Here" --One of my favorites
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 04:05 AM by Kurovski
A strange tribute to Bob Ross. It makes me wonder if McGruder watched Ross' painting instruction shows on PBS when he was a kid.

"When Riley's affinity for graffiti goes too far, Grandad sends him to an art teacher that actually encourages him to do graffiti, only painting murals instead. Meanwhile, Huey discovers a black woman died from watching too much black TV, and decides to watch black TV for 2 weeks to see if that was the cause."

15. 3:30 am "The Itis"
Grandad opens "The Itis", the only soul food restaurant in Woodcrest. White people didn't expect it. They also didn't expect high cholesterol, heart disease, and obesity.

"Grandad's pork-swine delight" Um...yum.:-) The "itis" is the sleepiness you feel after a big, fat meal.

18. Last episode in the marathon, 5:00 "The Block is Hot"
Its February, and its record temperatures of 90 degrees. Luckily, Jazmine has her lemonade stand open, and does pretty well. Her success catches the eye of corporate tycoon Ed Wuncler. Despite several warnings from Huey, Jazmine then learns the true meaning of "capitalism" when Wuncler decides to buy the stand.
