The timing of Ford's death
Well he has sure forced all the talking heads out of their holiday slumber. I find this hilarious but I'm sure they're pissed.

8. It's unbelievably funny
particularly since they love to talk about Congress' lazy work schedule.
Watch the seniors crawl out later -they won't want to miss this one.

19. it's true, sfexpat
I'm not saying everyone who takes the last two weeks off is an asshole, I'm saying every asshole takes the last two weeks off - and that includes pretty much all executives and managers

3. What is it with these presidents?
Reagan died just as the D-Day celebration was kicking in and at around the same time as Ray Charles.

Ford died the day after Christmas and at around the same time as James Brown.

Bah - always stealing the thunder.

11. that gerald ford was going to die, or that he would have to leave his ranch for some
unscheduled, unexpected incident requiring his words of sympathy and praise along with his national smirk on our national television sets?

6. I think it's great that they sit around
talking about the failed presidency of Nixon and his criminal cabal of advisers, the Vietnam war, impeachment or resignation and a middle of the road moderate ending it all (and thereby gaining HIS mark in history).

They can't talk about 1974 without some of the viewers drawing parallels to 2006/2007.

Failed war, divided country, criminals in power, country in need of a new president, impeachment the only way forward if no resignation, etc. etc.

Now all that is needed is the realization that Cheney has to go FIRST (resigns for health reasons) and a middle of the road repuke is put in allowing for Chimp to resign "for the good of the country".

(Not that I think this will happen, Chimp is even more evil than Nixon)

But at least some will start to think this way ( wish that history repeats and our "long national nightmare" is over again ).

7. Tributes to Ford during Football, not much else.
I bet the Networks use NFL games to fulfill there tribute requirements since Ford was known for being a big football fan.
