Anybody still have their WIN buttons on their coats?

Whip Inflation Now. Remember when a button almost saved a nation. Remember mortgage interest rates? Holy cow. But housing still was cheaper.

3. Under Reagan...
We sold a house at 11% and bought a new one 2 months later
at 16%.

Lost 50K in buying power.

Aargh!

From bad to worse that year.

4. Some friends of ours lost their house
when their interest rate skyrocketed to 18%. They couldn't make the payments at that rate and had to let it go. They rented for years until they were able to buy again in the 90's.

6. While going through my grandmother's stuff...
...I did unearth a few mementos, including some Gene McCarthy promotional stuff and a couple Dukakis/Bentsen buttons. The Dukakis buttons are near my desk now.

8. Those W.I.N. buttons prove that Pukes lie about Carter.
The Rethugs and their revisionist media have decided that our economy was just wonderful until Jimmy Carter was elected. They like to blame all the economic turmoil of the 70s - 80s on him. But those W.I.N. buttons (and Nixon's wage/price controls) prove that the Republicans drove the economy into the tank long before Carter came on the scene. Watch and see if they don't do the same thing to the next Democratic president -- blaming him/her for getting us into Iraq.

9. I always thought it was NIM, as in "Now I'm Medicated"

I guess I read it wrong or something. I bet that's why everyone look at me weird when I put up the "Now I'm Medicated" signs in the neighborhood.
