Bush used the term "Long War" last night.
Anybody catch that?

"Our own generation is in a long war against a determined enemy -- a war that will be fought by Presidents of both parties, who will need steady bipartisan support from the Congress.

It is the phrase the propaganda matrix is drumming up for the new description of the "War on Terror". Look for Foxnews, Republican politicians and pundits throwing this term around. They want something that sticks, like the "Cold War". You know what this means? They are priming us to be ready to sit through a low intensity conflict with fronts all over the globe that last over half a century. Score one for the military industrial complex last night.

1. That has been their pet name for Iraq for a while now
Pretty telling, huh? Yes, the republicans call this "The Long War." They knew what they were starting when they started it...they even had the nickname planned! Rummy told us it would be "the long war" before it even started.

7. Can't imagine why....
'It’s astonishing how good war is for oil companies and oil traders. Anyone in the energy business (will tell you): Chaos is good for the energy business. And that’s the first thing they’ll tell you. They don’t feel good about it; but it’s true.'

12. I started a thread on this, this was the article..
Goodbye War on Terrorism, Hello Long War

One phrase contained in the draft Quadrennial Defense Review document circulating amongst defense experts is sure to be a part of your life for years to come: The long war.

Defense experts want the long war to be the new name for the war on terror, a kind of societal short hand that will stand shoulder to shoulder with the Cold War, promoted to capital letters, an indisputable and universally accepted state of the world.

"This generation of servicemembers will be in what we're calling the Long War," Army Lt. Gen. Ray Odierno, assistant to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said earlier this week.
