Concerning passports
When do passports contain chips? What dates does that become effective?

2. Mid 2007...but they already are all 'machine readable'...
...that means there is a data strip on the bottom of the page with your picture on it. That is swiped through a card reader at the port of entry and on a screen all of your information pops up. If anyone in government or law enforcement is looking for you the data is linked on the spot and you are nailed right there.

In August, Denver became the first regional passport office to issue the new passports. Other regional offices will switch over in stages in the weeks ahead. By February or March, all new passports will contain the RFID feature, Ms. Barrett estimates.
