Biden wants Rice to testify on Iraq policy

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Joseph Biden, the incoming chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, said he has invited Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to testify during three weeks of hearings in January about the Iraq war.

Biden, a Delaware Democrat, told reporters Tuesday that the proponents of different plans for Iraq will be invited to the hearings that are to begin on January 9.

He also will call former secretaries of state, academics, Iraq Study Group members and other witnesses from outside the administration as the committee examines various approaches to the war.

The bipartisan Iraq Study Group, comprising five Democrats and five Republicans, recommended this month that the United States pull out of Iraq by 2008.

Rice has not announced whether she will appear before the committee, primarily because President Bush has not announced his plans regarding Iraq.

1. Does the committee have subpoena powers? If so, she will testify. That may be the only way.

4. Another article said that she had agreed to testify, but only after her boyfriend reads a speech
in January (before the SOTU address).

I'm looking forward to seeing how her obstructive ploys are received by the Democratic-run committee hearings. Will they allow her to run out the clock by rambling on senselessly?

5. She'd better bring her narrow ass to the hearings or get slapped with a subpoena.

6. It's called "Contemp of Congress", Lady...
and you can go to jail for it.

I would LOVE to see her try to stone-wall this Congress. She'll be in for a surprise.

I'm sure Henry Waxman will have to order a new printer as his will blow up printing all the subpeonas!!

7. It's that pesky "under oath" part she has issue with...
Condi, I have never ever had and original thought ever, rice is in a panic over having to actually tell the truth. Funny how all the born agains get their panties in a bunch when they have to testify for real and not the pretend way the repukes let them slide.
