Was there any connection between Agnew's resignation
and Ford's ascendency? It is certainly a unique circumstance when a man serves as the un-elected vice president, and then the un-elected president.

1. Not that I know.
My rather vague recollection is that Agnew was forced out because of his own problems with the IRS.

2. Not a complete coincidence. Nixon did not want two impeachment fights on his hands

at the same time. However, I believe Nixon expected to survive Watergate.
Nixon was already fighting for his political life when Agnew pleaded no
contest on the bribery charges. Agnew had to go. A President Ford
was not Nixon's original plan.

(edit for clarification)

3. I think Ford was pliable
that's why the picked him. The way he acted in office seems that he did what ever the republican gods told him to.

4. Nahhh. It was all a fortunate coincidence
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 01:13 PM by David Zephyr
that one of the handful of Allen Dulles' stooges who participated in preparing and rubber stamping the greatest fraud in American history, the Warren Commission Report, later, by appointment, wound up replacing Richard Nixon whose crimes in Watergate were in collaboration with the very same people that had orchestrated the Bay of Pigs and the Assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Just one amazing coincidence.

After all, wouldn't Prescott Bush agree? :sarcasm:

5. I sincerely hope you're intentionally being a wise guy. Just for
shits and giggles.
