Dennis Kucinich on Gerald Ford...

``Today we mourn the death of one of America's most respected presidents. President Ford was a man of courage, honor and integrity. He was able to bring a divided country together in the aftermath of a national scandal -- Watergate. President Ford put a healing hand on the nation. He renewed people's faith in government. President Ford was determined in his efforts to bring America together.''

Another neocon enabler speaks up....when will it end!!!

14. Agreed............
Why are folks always trying to pick a fight? I've seen several such threads bashing our Democrats for being respectful to the dead.

Ford did the best he could.........He had no malice or ax to grind. He never expected to be President either and he came to the plate ready to bat.

8. You mean straight talker Dennis Kucinich is not serious in his praise...
You mean he is just repeating talking points like any other crass politician?

9. well that is Ford's legacy beyond being the only non-elected president
that he "healed the nation"--at least to a certain degree.

18. yeah, i don't think he did
that "healed the nation" line...i don't buy it. with The Pardon, he handed the 76 election to Carter, ensured that Watergate (and the Office of the President) would never be fully investigated, set an incredibly dangerous precedent, enabled Rummy/Cheney's first expiriment with the expansion of executive power, and let Tricky Dickface off the hook entirely.

ok, the last one was personal, but The Pardon continues to bear fruit today.

10. You'll have to pardon my slowness.
Sometimes, many DUers have such an absurdly doctrinaire notion of what a "true Dem" looks like, it appears to exclude 99% of all Democratic senators, representatives, and governors - not to mention 99% of all registered Dems.

7. I personally don't think faith in government ever really recovered since Nixon and Vietnam
But that's just my personal commentary on that aspect of Kucinich's word, and it seems with Bush, it's not going to get better, especially after Bush's Iraq War.

I'd much rather hear my guys acting like frothing animals at a time like this :sarcasm: He is showing some class right now and affording him a bit of respect as a former president. I highly doubt he is a neocon enabler :eyes:

Kucinich is a great guy and if there's anyone in Congress who is on the right side it is him.

Kucinich is showing some class. He has the decency and political saavy to know when to address issues and when not to.

There's a reason the loud mouths here are not in politics - they simply do not know the right time and right place to bring stuff up.

Don't like Ford? Fine..but the wild crazy posts here do nothing more than give us a black eye right now.
