I have very little funds, and honestly I have $2 left on this account after I gave my $5, but I know we'll be able to eat unlike millions across our country of 300 million, so please donate $5 like I did, or whatever, and help a great cause.

God bless us all, and please pray for my brother with MS and my health that hasn't been too right lately.

Negative funds in the bank, but at least I have a place to stay. And there's no way I can give a dime to the donation drive. It's commendable that you gave your last five bucks, but I suggest you get off your high horse about it. There are always people less well off who simply cannot afford even what you can. And I'm sure I'm not the poorest DU'er out there either.

2. High horse? Didn't strike me that way...more like a reminder to those who CAN
afford a little bit.
:eyes:
If you can't, nobody is going to condemn you. Well, nobody who matters, anyway...

5. thank you, that hurt what they said
but I wrote them, and I will help them if they'll let me.

Thanks for reminding me not to be too thin skinned when other people lash out because of their hurting situation. My brother and I have barely got by on his disability and I caretake for him nearly 24/7, so I know what suffering is. I happened to have a little money to give, it made me feel good, and I told my brother laying in his bed, he just gave 100 pounds of food to those who have none, he said "oh!"

Thanks karlschneider, take care! :hi:

9. I understand. Just remember: Nobody can be legitimately 'guilted' if they don't deserve it.

10. Sure they can
Some of us have low self esteem and guilt complexes. I feel guilty every time I see a post that expresses disgust at how little has been donated so far, and I have no reason to. I have no money right now because I gave more than I had at election time a few weeks ago, and I am now in the hole.

This particular post didn't necessarily seem to be criticizing those who haven't given as other posts have, but it still made me feel a little down for being less "giving" than someone with $2 in his pocket. When I have money, I'll give. I don't think we should critize those who feel that they can't do so at this time.

11. You have no reason to feel guilty! Or low esteem either.
Hell's bells, if you don't have anything to spare you don't need to apologize to
ANYBODY for not doing more than you CAN! Quit beating up on yourself - no person on the planet has the right to critisize your own contribution...only you have that privilege.

7. I wasn't meaning to be hard on the OP
Just pointing out that the OP's claim that Anyone can also do the same is not, in fact, correct, and that people who have even less money might feel a little slighted at the grandstanding. Personally, I commended the donation, but called out the peer pressure in the OP that applies to people who, having so little funds available, should probably keep their money. Is that clearer?

8. Honestly I don't see a lot of difference between the OP's observation from
our own esteemed Administrator's suggestion/hope for donations. I evidently missed the nuanced distinction, I apologize if I misapprehended it.

4. I had $7 to my account, this was meant to drive people who have money to donate who haven't
and the message was one of hope, for anyone that has funds to give, I'm sorry you took it as an attack on you.

I am sorry you have no money, this is the exact reason I gave, for those who have NOTHING, and thank you for being so open about it and still having internet access, since you did so, tell me your address in a private email and I'll send $20 when I get my next check, I hope that will help, please get back to me asap.

Bless you.

12. I could, but I directed my giving elsewhere.
Reality: there is a finite amount of $$ to give. There are many worthy places to bestow what I've got. I chose other places.

All very worthy.
