Light the Candle & Bristol - Myers donates to AIDS research
I just received this from a friend - hope it's not a dupe. The deal is:

Until December 31st, Bristol - Myers is donating a dollar to AIDS research every time someone goes to their website and moves the match to the candle and lights it. Its free to you. You can only do it once so please forward this link < https://www.lighttounite.org/ > to others.

:-)

3. Check the fine print to see if they've reached their limit.

Maybe they start over from time to time, but when I checked, they had passed their limit.

4. Well, be a nice person and light the goddamned thing anyway
on the off chance that maybe they will cough up the cash. What the hell?! Like I said, it's not costing you anything.

7. I meant no offense, but I think your post is inadvertently misleading.
If people want to help with the AIDS initiative, instead of sending that appeal to "everyone in my address book" they could ask some of those friends to send a dollar or two to the AIDS initiative themselves.

If they think Bristol-Myers is going to donate money for any more candles, they are misinformed.

This is excerpted from the Bristol-Myers website:

As part of the 2006 "Light to Unite" we budgeted a contribution of $100,000 to the National AIDS Fund, as we did last year. This year, however, many more people visited the "Light to Unite" website -- which we were delighted to see. Still, this may have contributed to some regrettable misunderstanding about our company’s level of contribution to the Fund. This was certainly not intentional.

I think it is wonderful of BMS to donate to help defeat AIDS, but the campaign apparently is over.

8. Light it anyway and send "a dollar or two to the AIDS initiative"
yourself. You could have done it twice (if that were allowed) in the time you spent analyzing it! God! I'm Adrian Monk reincarnated, and I'm not that bad!
