My Letter TO Iraq and our troops
Often we see things like 'a letter from Iraq'. Tonight I wanted to write one to our troops.

My friends and fellow countrymen and women,

Each day you are putting your life in danger, doing the job you promised to do when you signed up with the military. You went to war to protect us, based on lies and greed. But no matter - you did what you swore to do, you obeyed orders and many of you have died doing so. Many more have been physically and mentally damaged.

So I wanted to tell you something. There are many here back in the US doing their duty to bring you home, soon and safe. No one is shelling us. No one is shooting at us. And we have sacrificed a lot less than any of you have.

Your jobs and lives are on hold. Ours keep on trucking.

We sacrifice little each day in this battle, and you offer up all.

But politics is not war in the traditional sense. It is a battle to be sure. One which many fine Americans here have waged for you. Day in and out, voting, making calls, writing letters, and debating. Our rules of engagement are different then yours, our methods do not include air strikes or physical attacks.

Ours is a battle of homemakers and hippies, professionals and politicians. We fight each day in our small way, with too many generals and leaders at times, all fighting among themselves for the best solution. But fight we do.

Because we have one common goal. To save your lives. Just like your goal was to save the lives of people here.

We mourn you, we weep for you, and we damn well have not given up fighting for you.

We don't always agree. But we do love and care about you. And we won't give up on this war to bring you back here and get you home to your loved ones.

Know each day people here think about you. Each day strangers you have never met fight for you. Each passing day we grow more angry at those in power.

The worse pain I get in my battles is a cramp in my hand from typing. Shame on me for giving so little.

You are not forgotten. You are not hated. You are our sons and daughters, and we will fight for you.

Peace out friends. And may you make it home safe.
