Nicolas' mom did not choose abortion. She chose to have her child. |
|
She brought her son into the world, nurtured him. Raised him and loved him dearly.
She was thankful for choice, it is the American way. A way I defend. She made her choice - and it was a good one for her.
Pfc. Nicholas D. Turcotte Age: 23 years old
Died: December 4, 2006 in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
It was not her decision that took this young man's life. It was bush's.
A mother invested years of her own life to raise her son, to feed and care for him, to sacrifice for him. Only to have it all erased by a pro-life president.
Are women here only to have kids to fight in wars for the elite? Are our lives simply to be solely for the few to have the much?
Whose life did Nicolas' death save? It was not mine - no, it was not a life that was saved, but some oil and money.
These are not toy soldiers mr bush. These are real people, people who have families and loved ones. These soldiers signed on to defend our country, not to attack other countries for you and your oil baron buddies.
No national health care, and plenty of war and death. And you dare claim to be pro-life.
And the fundies march in lockstep behind your pro-life stance - all the while attacking gay people who are doing no harm to anyone. These same 'evil' gay people want to adopt and raise kids, they are more pro-life then you and your asshole followers will ever be.
How blind some are in this country. How truly sad. The very people who embrace life and liberty are painted as bad while you try and paint yourself as mr pro-life and family. All the while ripping apart the lives of many in your war, and letting the poor suffer without proper care.
Shame on you and your sick followers.

5. You're right about the last 6 years. |
|
I've never felt this kind of loathing before for anyone. I certainly do now. bush is creating insurgency within his own country and is totally unaware. The Dems better damned well call into account those who have shredded and stomped upon our Constitution. We need to begin making amends for our wrongs.

3. Bush's war -- not pro-life. |
|
Bush's policies -- not pro-life. I can never figure out how the righties can call themselves pro-life and still support the war.

8. They are only "pro-life" before the child is born. After that, f'em. |
|
Who cares if the babies have decent health care, good daycare, safe schools, access to nutritious food, or any effing thing else? The Repukes don't. Just get 'em born so they can slowly kill them or send them off to war to have them kill other mothers' children.

9. I don't understand why in the world |
|
you are bringing up the subject of abortion when condolences are called for.
How insulting. You would actually say this to a grieving mother?
Maybe you were just trying to get attention with your headline...but that's really low.
My deepest condolences to his family. So very sorry for the irreplaceable loss.

11. Because we cannot be silent about their hypocrisy |
|
The post is not directed to the grieving mother. It's directed to the "pro-life" administration who cares nothing for life after it leaves the womb.
Anyone who feels the need to silence and shame those who speak the truth on this issue is complicit with bush's agenda.

13. Of course, they're hypocrits but to |
|
point that out by using a mother's grief for her son's death? The way the OP began, it reminded me of how the RR works. IOW, is it necessary to bring up the wedge issue of abortion when giving condolences to the grieving mother? Unless you know for a fact that she is vocally an anti-choice person and she would appreciate and welcome that topic raised...is that the case?
It seemed as if there was an agenda other than mourning a loss.
Just gave me the creeps. That's how it struck me.

12. The idea was to compare and contrast two sides of the spectrum |
|
The right says to choose life, and wants to make abortion a crime.
Here is a woman who 'chose life', only to have THEM destroy it.
The right bitches and moans about 'life' and yet they are the ones taking it. For oil.

14. I do. And, I don't think it is insulting in the least. |
|
First of all, chances are pretty good the mom won't ever see this. Secondly, it hammers home that Bushco is solely about pro-life when it comes to fetuses. Once that umbilical cord is cut, you are on your own.
I think it's a great post.
