I just Bought the soon to be banned "Bush Lied" T-Shirt

All ready banned in two states, they are chomping at the bit to throw this down the memory hole.

Can I get arrested for wearing it???? I guess the first amendment doesn't exist any more.

2. Why would a shirt be banned?
Is the truth considered sacreligious?

If history saints the Simian in any way, I'd feel ashamed for whoever does it.

3. W's legacy is is the toilet
The neocons and the religious theocrats tried a big push to take over the country. All it ended us with is America in disgrace. The faster we get rid of the right wing zealots, the better. And damn them for ever trying to take over this country for their purposes. They need to answer for the rising crime rate, the deaths in Iraq, and the division of this country.

9. Oklahoma and Louisiana. I found the reason at O'lielly's site....gag...
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 11:29 PM by Minnesota_Lib
"Arizona anti-war activist Dan Frazier was selling t-shirts on his website with the names of 1,700 Iraq War veterans killed in action... along with the phrase "Bush Lied-They Died." An Oklahoma mother, Judy Vincent, whose son Marine Cpl. Scott Vincent was killed by suicide bombers near Fallujah in 2004 (and whose name appears on the t-shirt) was, as she put it, "sickened" that someone would "profiteer" from her son's sacrifice, so she galvanized Oklahoma to pass a law restricting the commercial use of a deceased soldier's name without the family's consent. Advertising or selling these t-shirts became illegal in Oklahoma, and later in Louisiana, but despite pleas from families all over the country, Frazier refused to remove the names of fallen soldiers and continued to peddle them on his website."

The rest of the post is just an O'Lielly producer bragging about the part they played. I copied the pertinent stuff so ya'll don't have to dirty yourselves by visiting that piece of shit's site yourselves.

14. Because of the use of the name of all of the fallen.
Not all of the fallen would be in agreement with the Bush Lied statement and using their likeness or name is apparently against something.

7. Banned in two states? For what reason?
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 11:26 PM by BattyDem
A state can't ban a t-shirt because some GOP asshole doesn't like what it says! Where's the ACLU on this?

On edit: I just saw post #5, which explains why it's banned.

8. Details on this "banning"?
Edited on Wed Dec-27-06 11:37 PM by pnorman
Which states "banned" it, and in what venue --- eg: schools or shopping malls?

On edit: I too saw post #5, but too late. But as "distasteful" to the families it may be, I believe court rulings don't support extending privacy protection that far. These aren't people who lost their lives in a "domestic dispute", or even in a traffic accident. They lost them in (to put it as neutrally as I can) a WAR, that's the topic of an ongoing public debate. I believe this issue had also come up during Cindy Sheehan's struggle, and it was settled along First Amendment lines
