Charity Drive Update: More than $14,100 Raised -- and a *NEW* anonymous $500 challenge!

This morning I received the latest update on the DU Charity Donation Drive -- So far, the members of DU have raised $14,133 for America's Second Harvest! That means we're less than $1000 away from reaching $15,000!


AND WE HAVE RECEIVED A BRAND NEW $500 CHALLENGE FROM AN ANONYMOUS DUER!

A DUer who wishes to remain anonymous has made a generous $500 challenge to the members of Democratic Underground: If we reach $15,000 this anonymous donor will donate $500 to America's Second Harvest!

Combined with previous challenges from Midlodemocrat and Redstone, there is now a total of $5000 in financial and in-kind contributions available IF WE REACH THE $15,000 GOAL. If we do not make it to $15,000, then America's Second Harvest will not get the full $5000 in challenge donations.

7. May I ask you a technicality?

If someone wished to establish a challenge like -- "The DUer with the biggest donation beween days X and Y will receive a CD of Brazilian music" -- is there a way to verify that? I mean, when someone donates through the link, is there a way for him/her to send a message to you, linked to that donation's report from the charity?

I don't have access to the list of donors or donation amounts. All I get is an email in the morning telling me the total amount we have raised.

Due to the extreme generosity of other DUers, I figured that even though I can't give much, if all of us who can afford only a little give, we'll reach the goal. People in this country are going hungry. We are liberals...helping feed others is one of the things we can do.
