Good Charities to Donate to? |
|
Edited on Thu Dec-28-06 01:49 PM by julialnyc
Today I am having the fun task of looking up good charities for my boss and donating to several organizations. I've already given to Doctor's Without Borders, Lots of Animal related charities (she is a big animal lover and picked out some), and to savethesudan.org.
I was wondering if anyone had any more suggestions. I was looking for one where it helped soldiers get kevlar vests..... but any ideas would be great (although they have to be tax deductible for her)

Are any charities that check on voters rights and voting machines tax deductible?

4. Refugees International |
|
because: 1. They don't take money from any government or the UN 2. Their sole purpose is to be an advocate for refugees 3. They are often the first ones into a refugee situation, and they are always the last ones out (they still report on the impact of land mines in Cambodia) 4. They find ways of uniting the refugees in need with organizations that can fill those needs. When they can't find an organization, they have gotten wealthy folks to donate for the particular need.
And they came out against going into Iraq before the war, with Ken Bacon, their president, writing op ed pieces and appearing on talk shows.
