8. Ford was old school
and he would have seen it wrong for a former President to diss
a current President ....

like him or not he did have "his standards."

2. Like him or not Jerry Ford went to Yale on an Academic Scholarship
and was an assistant football coach too. He could tell a shit sandwich
by looking @ it and not tasting it.

Hell before he died DICK NIXON
wrote and spoke about never getting our troops involved in the middle east ...
he saw the neo cons coming and even he knew that a ground in the M.E.
would be a meat grinder and a fucking mess.

Shit W's Dad said "Bad Idea" too.

3. no, no no, that's NOT what he said!
In the interview with Woodward - text was up on Matthews' screen while Gergen was commentating - Ford said that he disagreed with Bush/Cheney/Rummy using WMD as their justification for invading. He never said that invading was a bad idea.

By James Sturcke / USA 04:21pm

The former US president Gerald Ford, who died on Tuesday, "very strongly" disagreed with George Bush's reasons for going to war in Iraq, according to a report published in today's Washington Post. Ford spoke at length about the mistakes he believed were made in the run up to the invasion, including those by his former White House chiefs of staff, the vice president Dick Cheney and then-defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld.

He told the Post's Bob Woodward:

"And I just don't think we should go hellfire damnation around the globe freeing people, unless it is directly related to our own national security."
