Little Piggy Bill Gates is FOR offshoring of jobs to China
http://www.forbes.com/2006/02/01/microsoft-congressional-china-cx_po_0201autofacescan04.html

"Bill Gates said the problems in China would eventually dissipate, and technology companies shouldn't deter from doing business there."

Tell the Chinese to learn maths and science, Bill. Show them the money. Then they will learn.

Because, Bill, as you damn well know, the business world is not doing something for its own sake; it's doing something solely for money. (for ideas are not profitable. Implementing them is. And that is the true stagnancy here that Bush was trying to sidestep in the SOTU. Ideas require thought and time and those are not profitable. Not any more.)

And people know this.

People also do things when there's purpose.

If people see no purpose in maths and science (aka. no money or other incentive to friggin' LIVE), they sure as hell won't bother.

1. IBM & Dell are in favor of offshoring too..... so?
If you saw The Corporation (movie, recommended), you know they basically have to. They are bound by their terms of officership to maximize shareholder value. To NOT do it would be borderline illegal.

10. No argument from me. It's the institution of "corporations" that are the
problem.

2. He's doing it because he makes more money doing it.
Which he then gives away to needy (mostly) foreigners, which no doubt gives his ego a huge boost and maybe even a tingly feeling somewhere in the vicinity of where his heart should be... I don't see that its doing much for anyone else though.

8. Ya know, just 'cause someone's rich doesn't automatically make them bad.
They aren't all Bushes.

Do you even know about their foundation? Do you know how many people they help in the US and worldwide? Do you know how much of it goes unreported and unnoticed?? And that they don't care about that - they care about the work that gets done.

9. Ya know how many people in this country have lost their job

because of his company's policies? Which do you think we would rather have from him, charity via his foundations or jobs so that we Americans can pay our bills? Let me give you a clue from someone who has been there.

Charity really hurts. It's really hard on your pride and self esteem. If you're having to take charity in order to survive it is incredibly painful. You feel humiliated and ashamed. It weakens your family's trust in your ability to provide and puts unbelievable stress on and frequently destroys the marriage. Charity is not a wonderful thing.

11. I'm sorry that happened to you.
I've been there too and it sucks - not because of Gates but it still sucks. I've had to accept charity too - and I did it realizing that at that moment I was on the receiving end and in time I'd be on the giving end. I do believe for most of us, the pendulum always swings and we experience both sides of it. And that doesn't always have to do with finances. But when you're down and you need it, there's nothing wrong with accepting it. And on the other end, some might be self-satisfied or smug when they give someone help but I think most people do it because they want to and they can. It's human nature to reach and help someone when you see them in need or in pain. Hope all is well and getting better all the time for you!

3. If Bill wants to hire Chinese, he should MOVE TO CHINA!
If he wants to hire Mexicans, he should move to Mexico. If he wants to hire Indians, he should move to India. Outsource Bill Gates, damnit.

5. And when they do that, there will be no need for America... be worried.
I've already postulated that executives will do so when the time is right. And then find an easy way to end our dependence on oil for real AND stop global warming: A few well-placed EMPs would end our worries for good; though for about 5 days we'd be suffering big-time...

No longer do I care about their tax breaks, or for much else. I'm just going to smile and be happy (and productive) while I can. I've accepted impending reality. Many haven't. It's their loss, but ignorance supposedly leads to happiness.

7. He said "doing buisness there" not "sending jobs there." Read the article
If you'd read the article you'd see he was referring to the controversy over allowing nations to limit searches and ban certain internet content.
