4. Canadians are good people |
|
They probably know it was just a fuck-up although one that could have had serious consequences. I love the Canadians and thank them every chance I get for taking stranded Americans into their homes and taking care of them during the 9/11 crisis when only members of the Saudi and Bin Laden families were allowed to fly home in jets.

I don't jump to conclusions without at least reading the article.
---------------------- ... "The incident occurred in the international zone on Tuesday," she said. "The ambassador's vehicle was attempting to pass a U.S. convoy."
When the vehicle failed to yield to the convoy, "warning shots were fired at the front of the vehicle. There were no injuries and the incident is still under review." ..... A spokesman for Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs said the U.S. troops apparently asked the car to stop, CBC said in a report on its Web site.
"But when the driver didn't respond, the soldiers feared they were dealing with a suicide bomber and fired into the vehicle's engine block," CBC reported. ...... ------------------------
It sounds like the driver (or the people giving him his orders from the back seat) had a lapse in judgement. Many of your soldiers have been killed by car bombers overtaking convoys. From what we see on our news, even I know not to try to pass a US convoy on the streets of Baghdad. I'm glad no one was hurt.
How's that for a first post?

8. Actually heard on the CBC today |
|
that the Canadian officials decided to come forward with their version of what happened after the American Version was not accurate. That's what I heard. Here's the link on what's being reported today here: http://www.cbc.ca/story/world/national/2006/02/01/diplomats060201.html
