Boil the frog slowly and watch the results.

I'm not really advocating boiling a frog as my title suggests.

I'm talking about the analogy in this excellent summary of media and chipping away at free media. I highly recommend sharing it with anyone who thinks the corporate media hasn't brainwashed our nation.

But you also have to look at how they've silenced dissenters by using smears against them. They've also blacklisted, blackballed, harrassed, and taken revenge on anyone who tells the truth. Jesselyn Radack knows. (Read her excellent book and pass it to your right-winged friends who tell you there's a liberal bias. http://www.patriotictruthteller.net/ ) what happened to her is damn scary and it could happen to anyone.

But like Ray McGovern said Clarke and others KNEW before the war that it was planned. They KNEW there were no weapons of mass destruction. Yet, they waited to tell the truth! You can't claim that Jesselyn waited until it was politically correct to speak the truth.

But this all boils down to how the Bush administration and the Republican party as a whole has used smears and hate and lies to slowly boil the frog. (Read the top link to see why I used that analogy.)

Buy Jesselyn Radacks book because Jesselyn's story is one that the media NEVER told you and never will! And after you read it, you tell me that boiling the frog isn't their mo in every single one of their actions: media, voting, hate, suppression, civil rights, education, etc...

Right now, they thought she was their frog. But she's fought back. And her story needs to be shared before it's too late. (08 IS coming and if you don't think your favorite candidate won't find themselves to be the next frog in the pot, then think again.)

Republicans. They saw the light after they read her memoir.

(They would not have purchased or read her book on their own, but as they read, they said, "I didn't know that..." Sure...they may still disagree with some things, but there were many things in the book that got them upset.)

2. Be careful of that analogy.
The point about the danger of ignoring gradual change is correct. However, it's a bad analogy because frogs will try to escape before being boiled.

http://www.uga.edu/srel/ecoview11-18-02.htm

Vic's answer was as follows: "The legend is entirely incorrect! The `critical thermal maxima' of many species of frogs have been determined by several investigators. In this procedure, the water in which a frog is submerged is heated gradually at about 2 degrees Fahrenheit per minute. As the temperature of the water is gradually increased, the frog will eventually become more and more active in attempts to escape the heated water. If the container size and opening allow the frog to jump out, it will do so." Naturally, if the frog were not allowed to escape it would eventually begin to show signs of heat stress, muscular spasms, heat rigor, and death.

3. well, I really DON'T want people to boil the frogs. (as I stated)
But you're right, humans become complacent when warm and cozy--even if lied to--and frogs at least try to get out! (I guess that mean's we're the ones who have to keep waking people up.)

Also...when I was at Camp Democracy, five Iraq vets were arrested at the Pentagon. Nobody saw that. Mainstream News didn't report it. and those vets were charged under the 'homeland security' code--and yet even then the corporate media didn't report it.

Camp Democracy was another way we try to flame real media. And they have a dvd you can buy too that the proceeds go to help the Iraq Veterans Against the War. http://www.campdemocracy.org/dvd

5. In the media today...3 more killed in action in our state...local press
not the tv media.

Strange how the papers are more forthright than the tv/radio.
