This Just In... Bush Administration Bad For Comedy?!?
While the Bush Administration may appear to provide a windfall of comedic fodder on its face, in actual fact, it harms comedy by closing the gap between reality and the outlandish. Pretty soon, no one will be able to tell what's funny anymore. Discuss.

1. I long for a day when comedians will have to make jokes from scratch
Instead of sitting behind news desks like reporters and telling the audience what the government just did.

3. Careful what you wish for...
...you might end up with a whole bunch of knock-knock jokes...

...such as...

Knock-Knock.
Who's there?
Fred.

Bush is self-satirising
I mean, seriously, the Veep shot a man in the face because he mistook him for a bird. How is a comedian supposed to top that?

2. Do you mean something like how funny it is that Saddam Hussein
will be hung for killing fewer people that Bush has killed?

7. Meh... Sort of...
I mean like when the following happens:

Dick Cheney shoots friend in face mistaking it for bird.
Then friend apologizes to Dick for the bad PR it caused him and his family.

And we're all just like, "Oh, well that kind of thing happens all the time! What's so funny about that?"

5. Al Franken's latest book
Identifies the jokes, because the real stuff is often just as funny.

14. Jon Stewart was quoted before the 2004 election
saying words to the effect that he cared too much about this country to ever want * to win the election just so he would have more comedy material.

how they're comedians, and they're not doing real news, but what they don't seem to grasp is the fact that our reality is a comedy, thus they are doing real news.
