Bush To Daschle: "I just want you to know I'm in charge." |
|
Apparently Dear Leader is a little 'sensitive,' shall we say, about the notion that Dick Cheney is really the one calling the shots.
I'm listening to the podcast version of C-span's American Political Archives, and Tom Daschle is being interviewed by Linda Douglass.
He said that the first time that Bush met with him on Capitol Hill (after being selected by the Supreme Court), Bush said to him "I just want you to know I'm in charge." Daschle said he asked Bush what he meant by that, and Bush basically told him that he was aware of the talk about the role that Dick Cheney would be playing, and Bush wanted to let Daschle know that HE would be the one calling the shots.
But even more telling is that Bush said to Daschle "I hope you'll never lie to me" to which Daschle responded "I hope you'll never lie to me." Now Bush is someone who wouldn't know the truth if it bit him in the---well, you know where. And he's going to lecture Tom Daschle about not ever lying to him?

3. Knowing that Chimpy feels real sensitive about it, I think it should |
|
be brought up to him 24/7, 365 days a year.
As in "So, Chimpy, what orders has Cheney given you today?"

4. So Bush* lied from day one. |
|
And in reality, Bush* lied with the second statement, when he said "I hope you'll never lie to me." He actually wanted Daschle to lie to him many times, so he could later claim that the Democrats lied to him repeatedly.

8. This even further screws my tinfoil hat on tighter... |

I'm pretty much convinced that someone high up in this administration ordered anthrax to be sent to Daschle. Bush loves to speak in "code" to his right-wing fundie base, and I think this is more of that doublespeak.
(And I still think Daschle was an inadequate Senate Majority/Minority Leader. Good senator for his state, but not a good leader for the Senate.)

9. This reminds me of that SNL skit with Will Farrell as Bush and Darrel Hammond |
|
as Cheney. Ferrell was giving his speech at the big desk in the Oval Office when all of a sudden he realizes that Hammond is standing behind him with his arms folded, looking mad. Ferrell gets up and goes to a little child's desk in the corner and Hammond sits down at the big presidential desk.

10. Bush didn't lie, but he didn't invite Daschle to participate in COG post-911. |
|
Of course, Bush "forgetting" to inform Daschle was no lie. Not inviting Tom to be part of the emergency "Continuity Of Government" program implemented just after the terror attacks was treachery. http://www.apfn.org/apfn/shadow_gov.htm
