Screw the Hussein execution - THIS is the story of the day
Ancient ice shelf breaks free from Canadian Arctic

A giant ice shelf the size of 11,000 football fields has snapped free from Canada's Arctic, scientists said.

The mass of ice broke clear 16 months ago from the coast of Ellesmere Island, about 800 kilometers (497 miles) south of the North Pole, but no one was present to see it in Canada's remote north.

Scientists using satellite images later noticed that it became a newly formed ice island in just an hour and left a trail of icy boulders floating in its wake.

11. Jeeze.
I don't think it was that warm when I was there in the mid 80s in the middle of summer. That is freaky.

I'm excited that I soon will have beach-front property in Tennessee...

Seriously, this is horrid. When are people going to wake up to the realities of global warming? :grr:

8. Polar Bears listed as an endangered species
So what does that do to plans to drill in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge??

Kinda shoots them down, I think.

Most interesting is that the only news I can find on this is in international papers. Nothing on ANY of the national "mainstream media"!!

9. The only way is to change the power base. Running cars on water and
powerplants. It is not crazy. but more important> LOVE and COMPASSION for all beings. Can't have one without the other because without L and C humans would just mow everything down and rake even more havic for capital gain and more lovely macmansions. I am hopeful but something has got to give to get it into to the culture's head. All of nature's creatures are very beautiful. So why do we need so much lawn and macmansions. Why do we need to truck so much food across the country? Why do we need to eat our fellow creatures. Seeds of vegtables are happy to support us. Lots of work to do. It is not going to be easy.

10. Geese flying overhead Dec. 27th in Omaha, NE. In a straight line
mind you. They're so screwed up they can't remember how to do the V-formation.

But we have geese. Last year we still had geese in early January. Wonder if we'll beat the record this year? It's very scary.
