If Saddam was going to be executed before Eid ul-Adha, it has already happened.
It is now later than 12:00 AM in Baghdad. Eid ul-Adha has started for Saddam, if he's alive, so they cannot executed him.

2. Indeed, but Saddam is officially a Sunni, the holiday has therefore...
started for him. The law says he may not be killed on his holiday.

4. Actually, it depends more on where you live. It's based on lunar
calendars and not physical calendars, so the holiday could start either day, depending on the moon's cycle in relation to where you live (i.e. the moon maybe in full on Saturday there, but not until Sunday here).

Confusing, I know.

3. Earlier today I heard a reporter say that the killing will be taped and then
the tape will be edited before it is released just as the tapes were from the phony trial.

CNN, MSNBC and FOX are now on Saddam so they know it is coming and they are salivating.

* is then supposed to address the nation that his victim is dead. What a horror we are watching.

Not in my name.

BAGHDAD, Dec 29 (Reuters) - Saddam Hussein may be hanged within hours, Iraqi
officials said on Friday, as the prime minister met U.S. officials to determine
whether the execution can go ahead before a week-long religious holiday.

Nuri al-Maliki has already given the order, after approvals from the president and
justice minister, a close party political ally of the prime minister, Sami al-Askari,
told Reuters.

But the feast of Eid al-Adha from noon (0900 GMT) on Saturday could delay the
hanging if final arrangements, including the site of the gallows and fate of the body,
could not be agreed with the Americans in the coming hours, he added.

"If it's not tonight, it will be after Eid," Askari said, raising the prospect of Saddam
mounting the scaffold at dawn.
