I love Keith, but
I don't want to laugh, I don't want to be entertained. I want to know what is going on.
I will be so glad when this oddball week is over.:(

I miss getting the news. There sure as hell isn't any anywhere else right now.

6. Oh Lord
I suppose I could start reading my John Grisham book I got for Christmas.
I am appalled at a "hangwatch".
If Bush were a smart man...he would have made a reality show out of the trial and the hanging...:puke:

5. The oddball segments really bother me, and always have. When you only have ONE
journalist willing to speak the truth, you really want him to spend ALL his time allotted giving greater detail of that truth. Detail the public will never hear in 10 minute segments.

11. heh...I am sure that the media watchers here would all agree with us on this.
The ONE hour we get out of 24 and we hate to see any bit of it wasted on inconsequential material.

It's not that I'm against good humor writing, Keith is great at it, but best when it's about politics and governance and makes a difference. The rest is just filler that is not needed.

10. Dan Abrams needs to hear about it. He's trying to 'make nice' with
everyone; his celebrity news is equally insipid. IF he's trying to appeal to Dems, then straight news would work just fine because KO IS the only telling it at the moment.

13. I tend to agree except that it most likely brings in viewers that
may not normally tune in or sit through the whole show otherwise. I think he mentioned that was his reasoning at his afternoon chat at Firedog Lake.

8. Yeah, such a waste of time.
How the hell is the struggling msnbc supposed to continue increasing its share of the market when they hand us this bs for over a week?

I wonder if they are trying to prove a point.

If that was what I wanted to see I could just watch Who's Line Is It Anyway.

14. I don't understand why
they're re-running all the oddball stuff and not re-running ALL of the commentaries.

A few oddball minutes tucked into the regular programming is fine, but this is getting old. I had hoped to tape the full series of commentaries, but they only ran four of them and it was all in one night. Surely, while he's been on vacation, they had plenty of time to re-run ALL of his fantastic commentaries.

16. Disagree with you all. I think Oddball is needed comic relief and I don't see it as a waste of time.
I would go crazy if I had to listen to nothing but an hour of hard, depressing, serious news from Keith. Let him give me something to laugh about, too. And by the way, I'll put my intelligence up against that of anyone else here anytime.

That having been said, I could do without the celebrity gossip. And this Oddball special has run way more than enough times for my taste. As far as I'm concerned, Keith deserves the time off, given that he's given us so many working vacations this year in which he traveled somewhere for pleasure but still did Countdown at night from that location. But the end of the year has turned out to be anything but a "slow news week," and I miss hearing what he'd have to say about a lot of things.

The good news is, he'll be covering the Ford funeral with Tweety on Tuesday all day. The bad news? Tweety will probably constantly talk over him and interrupt him, just like he did on election night.
