"No man is an island, entire unto itself:
"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee." - John Donne

For those cheering the imminent death of Saddam Hussein, or anyone else.

1. I disagree.
Some people are treated as islands, and then kicked for being one.

Good riddance to Saddam, whose bullying and other uncouth acts turned lots of people into islands before drowning into the ocean...

2. truer words.
it's only an illusion that we operate alone --

that pic of rumsfeld shaking hands with saddam should be plastered everywhere.

3. They that have the power to hurt and will do none (#94)
They that have power to hurt and will do none,
That do not do the thing they most do show,
Who, moving others, are themselves as stone,
Unmoved, cold, and to temptation slow;
They rightly do inherit heaven's graces
And husband nature's riches from expense;
They are the lords and owners of their faces,
Others but stewards of their excellence.
The summer's flower is to the summer sweet,
Though to itself it only live and die,
But if that flower with base infection meet,
The basest weed outbraves his dignity:
For sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds;
Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.

5. Straight into my "Great Quotes" file.
Worth keeping, and re-reading.

This is no night to celebrate. Just a big fat fucking travesty ALL AROUND.
