Another reason why Tim Kaine could've been chosen |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-01-06 08:07 PM by FreedomAngel82
I think another reason why they chose Tim Kaine to give the democratic response is because of the following reason's.
He's a newly democratic governor to a southern state. Virginia has been named the best managed state in the country under Mark Warner. Remember when Bush went to Virgina to stump for the other guy and Kaine beat him with a pretty good amount.
He worked under Warner and they showed how republicans and democrats can work along each other. I noticed how Kaine kept repeating "we can do better" and really empathizing about how the democrats lead to work together instead of fighting when they had the governorship in Virgina.
And of course he isn't afraid to talk about his faith and values. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion and to reach out to others. Since he's new he doesn't have a record yet from his job as governor and he isn't a well known face to the public like John Murtha, Howard Dean, Wes Clark and others who are more out spoken in the media.
I do think the DLC believes there is a "conservative religious" take over in this country and I heard an interview sometime last week I believe with Mark Crispin Miller on the Majority Report and he mentions how those in the DLC believe in this phony "religious right" movement and there is none because of the elections being stolen. So I don't think it's a huge conspiracy here. Just my opinion of course and I could be wrong.

1. I think that was the main reason |

They wanted to show that Democrats can appeal to red staters too. He's not my type of Democrat (meaning he isn't as progressive as I like) but he did do a good critique of the cronyism and corruption of the Bush administration.

Hopefully he'll progress as he goes along (that's what happened with Gore).

of religious lemmings who follow the word "jesus" like a fish with a "shiny thing." What's with the possessive of reason in the OP? http://very.net/frantic/strunk.htm
