I'm sorry for not being articulate. This seems like someone who joined DU and even contributed :-) just to wait for Saddam's death to pounce on any expression of doubt that this wasn't the "best thing ever" and accuse the doubter of "loving" Saddam Hussein and being a traitor and not a patriot and on and on...
The poster to whom you were responding appeared to fit that description. :hi: MKJ

The execution of Saddam is just a pathetic reminder to the American people what a boondoggle the invasion and occupation of Iraq was.

most americans tune out Iraq. I am a recently returned vet and I told a lady in Boston I had just returned from Iraq and she said "we're still in Iraq I thought we left when the Democrats won".

13. Welcome to DU, sanskritwarrior! |

Thank you for your service and I'm appalled, yet not very surprised, at the ignorance of the woman with whom you spoke.
While you all have been fighting your asses off in Iraq, the government and the media have done all they can do to distract and/or downplay this country's real situation there.
The folks who understand(at least partly) the reality of it are the majority. We will have much more of a voice after Jan 4, 2007.
I'm glad you're here. :hi: MKJ
