I have no opinion on Saddam's guilt or innocence
None.

Not one bit. Not my decision. I wasn't involved, and I have kept myself blissfully unaware of the details.

BUT

This is an orgy of revenge. This is being covered as a circus. The media isn't covering, they're gloating. They're making a spectacle out of this to show how big and powerful we are.

So, folks who are asking why people seem hypocritical about this, and aren't rejoicing over the death of a dictator - I can't bring myself to do so. Not because of any feelings about him, but because of feelings about how our society looks now.

5. You're not getting what I'm saying
OK, I know about as much as everyone else on the subject that doesn't follow it expressly.

The point that I was trying to make though, still stands: my opinion about him being a terrible dictator deserving of execution is not what I am concerned about right now, although there's several people who seem to believe that we should be happy about his execution. My concern is that this is pornographic in nature. This is being covered to get people off.

6. You need to put a "graphic" warning on that...
it's a very traumatic thing seeing Saddam's victims.

12. i would have liked to see this go on trial.
there is question in this event i would have liked the courts to actually look at. prior to gulf war one it was coming out that the iranians had sent the gas over. that it was their gas. they thought the village had been evacuated and it was soldiers. both sides were using gas. the gas that killed the kurds was gas the iranians used and not the iraqis.

then gulf war comes up and the story dies.

i wonder why saddam was not charged with this crime.

i would have liked to have known the answer instead of simply believing what our govt said because it behooves us in a war.

4. this is what disgusts me. f* saddam. one way or another he pays
the price for the choices he made in life. i am not into death penalty. i would be just fine with jail forever. if the people chose a hanging, that is their decision. but it is what we become in anothers death that horrifies me whether it is this hanging or the other deaths in the past that people have no sense of civility towards. and the ugliness of it all. this effects me and the world i live in. the people that are in my world and my children. who they are as people. that is what bothers me the most in this whole disgusting affair

9. The "people" did not choose this payment for Saddam.
A court with very questionable legitimacy did.

10. We'd call it state sponsored murder if someone else did it.

13. It was our government's rigging that made it come out this way
"We the people" haven't chosen a damn thing in years.

Except for the freepers. Their choice is all the Bush administration wants to respect. And they're gloating over this like the sick psychopaths they are. They probably all beat off all night to the fantasy that they were the ones that got to put the noose around his neck.
