CNN Reporter in Dearborn:: Saddam's Death JUSTIFIES the Invasion |
|
So Saddam's execution would be justification number what?
Links to Al Queda - instantly disproven.
WMDs - uh, no.
Democratization - sorry, no dice.
Domino Theory - never gonna happen.
Death to Saddam? Ah! Now that's the ticket. It was all worth it!
3000 American troops dead. 75 journalists. Nearly 700,000 Iraqis, DEAD. MANY thousands grievously injured. But Saddam swung, so it was all worth it. Or so quoth the CNN reporter. Is this the spin they were working out on the pig ranch yesterday?

8. He's the guy reporting from Dearborn where the exiles are dancing |
|
He's got a big grin on his face and the Iraqi exiles - all male, men and boys - are dancing in celebration. No such dancing is occurring in Iraq.

3. They are spinning like a top |

Even Bush said Saddam had nothing to do with 911. There was no justification for the invasion, in international law or morality. The invasion and its aftermath have killed more than Saddam could have ever dreamed of.

since turning iraq into a failed state may bring about the same fate for the rest of the mideast states.

15. I saw those rejoicing |
|
and I'm wondering, why aren't they out there in Iraq fighting the insurgents/terrorists/whatever the fuck they want to call them?
Why aren't they waiting in line with the hundreds of Iraqi men risking their life to police their nation? Why aren't they actually in the marines patrolling the streets of Baghdad?
It's easy to cheer the death of one irrelevant thug, but in his place thousands have been let loose, killing and torturing.
I don't blame them for being happy that Saddam is gone. I'm sure many even have painful and terrible memories of him.
But when taking this into perspective, Saddam had a body count of maybe 200,000 Iraqis (I'm not counting the war casualties in the Iran-Iraq war), but that's a pretty liberal estimate...But that number was over some 30 years or so.
In just over three, Bush's war has left almost 3,000 Americans and well over half a million Iraqis dead...

Many may have been Shiites.
The state of Christians in Iraq has in some ways got WORSE in the aftermath of the war, considering they are caught in a cross fire of two dueling theocratic Islamist movements.
Though as I noted above, cheering is easy when you're not actually doing anything useful.
