1. You know they should go ALL THE WAY
perhaps this will turn most pro death penatly folks against it... to actually SEE an execution.

It was funny how they stopped it just before the execution

But they stopped the video after they placed the rope around his neck. Very creepy. No audio. And all the men around him have on black hoods.

9. I have no desire to look either
I watched the legal injection death of a 25 year old boy.

Keith Eugene Wells. I knew then that state sanctioned death was only another name for murder.

13. You know, not that I want to see this but even if Iraqi television
showed the whole thing, the CNN anchor said they wouldn't show the actual execution. More than likely there will be pictures. How do we know it wouldn't be any of his many doubles? For all we know, Saddam could be hiding out in the Swiss Alps with Kenny Boy.

The Administration had to silence him before the Democrats with subpoena power took over Congress. One way or another they had to get him out of the picture.

I agree that he was an asshole, like Bush, who needs (and "needed") to go, but nothing I was able to access showed me any indication of repentance. These guys are all the same: "Fuck you and the white (or some other color) horse you rode in on. We don't care." And they don't! It's just Fuck You. Okay, fine. And now it's "Fuck You, Dictator." How do you like it?

17. I can't get the word "barbaric" out of my head...
This whole thing just seems to highlight all of the...*wrongness* of the war in Iraq. First we invade an independent nation. Then we capture its leader. Then we (/Iraqi puppet officials) execute its leader. Via hanging. And then we make sure the tape is shown on national television for everyone to see.

I just saw the movie Sophie Scholl: The Final Days. And while I know the Bush Administration is nowhere near as bad as the Third Reich and that it's a wayyyyy overused comparison, but the entire twistedness of this situation reminded me of that movie. This is something that reminds me of Nazism. Executions of enemies on television.

21. Don't forget that we warned them to get rid of their wmd.
And they did.

So then we killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, destroyed their country, built an army base on Babylonia and touched off a civil war.

Welcome to DU, Scotty, wish it was on a better night.

we can now focus on the dead body of saddam AS IF he was the weapons of mass destruction we supposedly went to war for.

26. You all know this video was shot for President Asshole right?
You know that they probably rushed him a copy so he could giggle gleefully about it while the other monster we created who was actually responsible for 9/11 is laughing in his underground hideout in our ally Pakistan's borders right? While teasing American viewers who have the same bloodlust as President Asshole without going all the way.

You know there will be reprisals for this little Bush crime family vendetta right? Reprisals where other innocent people will be killed because these vampires had to satiate their grudge when they backed his regime to begin with?

And when it happens the ironic thing is, no one will be able to blame Hussein anymore although President Asshole will and will use it to continue his insane war.

31. I just watched it on the CNN website - bizarre and unnerving
Bushie got what he wanted - Saddam dead.

But I thought Saddam was calm - no fear that I could see.

What puzzles me though is why such a man chose to go through what he did - the risk of capture, then capture itself. He didn't go out the way his sons did, or by suicide BEFORE capture.

Did he think his friends in the CIA (or Rummy) would save him in the end ??

Or maybe all along he was just a coward.
