1. Barbaric.
Especially considering we set him up and were supporting him before and after his slaughter of the Shia.

Link is not working...

8. a few comments from the list:

worldwide, this is not going over well...the quotes below are just from the first page...

BUSH & BLAIR shouldnt they be hanged for the murder of over 600,000+ innocent lives in IRAQ? Questions to ponder: 1. Does the USA and Britain have the right to invade any country and put on trial and execute anybody they dont agree with? 2. I thought this was the sort of cowboy law that the United Nations was supposed to address. 3.Does the western society really think that these actions are going to bring about world peace? 4. Where's the Weapons of Mass Destruction they were after? 5. Why is there one law for Americans and Christians and another for Non-Americans, Non-Israelis, Non-Jews and Non-Christians? 6. Does and will replaced Puppet Regimes all over the world satisfy the hunger for American and Israeli administrations desire for military adventurism? 7. Why are the Americans arguing about Iran's nuclear power project while keeping mum about Israel's clandestine nuclear arsenal? 8. Is this argument of Iran's nuclear project a prelude to another military adventure?

Gaffoor Mohideen, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

Since the so-called civilised world believes that justice has been served, perhaps it is time to conduct some more fair trials on people responsible for genocide crimes against humanity. Let's start with the Jallianwalla Bagh massacre, the people who dropped the Atom Bomb on Japan, Naplam bombs on civilians in Vietnam and finally the people responsible for the execution and murder of thousands of women and children in liberated Iraq.

In civilised countries execution is not tolerated. It should have been acceptable to let Saddam go to gaol for what he did, but his execution was wrong. The execution will serve no good; it will inflame radicals and establish Saddam as a martyr. Peace in Iraq is further off today than it ever has been.

jamesnp, Killiney, Ireland

Saddam's condamnation is illegal, because it was taken by a false court, under a foreign occupation and has no legitimate grounds. Don't forget that Saddam was a war prisoner. The international legislation regarding the prisoners of war was breached. This assassination is a terror act and is destined to compensate for the failure of the US policies in the Middle East. It's outrageous that the murder took place at the time of the hajj, the US showed their utmost arrogancy, idiocy and cynism by the non respect of this Islamic religious holiday. Which means that the entire farse is geo-political.

kirilova, Paris, France

Surely Saddam's death on Eid-ul-Adh ha is a clear evidence that the west have no respect for the muslims. And they wonder why we are against them?

4. that's the word I would use...
and I would toss in disturbing and sickening just for good measure. Reveling in the execution of someone, no matter how 'evil' is a big karmic no-no, IMO.

2. I think Bush knew/fixed and that is why he put off the 'more troop thing'
He will now go with this hanging will do the trick. His white horse is waiting and Bush only has 2 more years to ride down Broadway on it as the hero. When you have a young boy in the white house this is what you get.

6. From the link:
ts funny you know. i have just a few words to share. how come clinton did not attack saddam but enjoyed peace with no terrorist attacks? was it not the same CIA which helped saddam's party some years ago and who says his death will bring peace. bush himself has said that his death will not bring peace so whats the sense in killing him. funny right. may his soul rest in peace.shame on the vatican for not stopping this, the UN for sitting down bound by USA and to all of us for not making our voices heard. The blood of Saddam and the innocent US soldiers will be on Bush and Tony Blair.

7. Southpark awaits
I remember southpark episodes where Saddam was dating Satan, so now he will get his chance for real.

I certainly don't mourn his death, after all that he was responsible for, but I hope that by executing this guy it does not worsen an already terrible situation.

9. I don't exactly mourn his death.....
......but I don't rejoice in it either. Yes, he was a vile SOB....but he had plenty of help from American, vile SOB's - he didn't get to where he was (and stayed there) all on his own. He had plenty of support (Rumsfeld, et al) - and he is not the only one with a boatload of innocent blood on his hands - yet he was the only one to swing from a rope last night. Something is wrong with that picture!

10. Absolutely sickening and
gagging! When I turn my TV on I do not expect to see anyone having a rope put around there neck. I do not want to see a persons dead body killed at the hands of someone else. I do not want to see the "fear of death" on someone's face. I do not want to see the President of my country lie and say he had nothing to do with this. I did not want to live through another useless war. I did not want to see young men and women die to "help" another country when we cannot even begin to help in our own. At the age of 57 I am sick to my stomach and sick of what a deceiving, controlling administration has done for the benefit of only themselves. Christians they are not and I am tired of hearing them say they are and acting like they are the devil himself. May God help us because we really are going to need all the help we can possibly get!!

11. Help Me Understand
Saddam Hussein executed for gassing some hundreds of Kurds.

Bush kills 3,000 US troops (maimed some 20,000 or so) and probably some 600,000 Iraqis.

Is there a disconnect here?

The implications are obvious to me.

12. While I think Saddam was an SOB,
he was Iraq's SOB. To those who support his hanging, I have one thing to say:

CONGRATULATIONS. YOU'VE JUST GIVEN THE SUNNIS AND OTHER ARABS A MARTYR.

The violence in Iraq will get worse.
