I am resolved in this New Year to work for a new international policy.
An international policy which stands against supporting strong men and theocracies while turning our backs on domestic policies which could help us gain energy independence. An international policy DEMANDING a final resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the withdrawal of anything but humanitarian aid to both sides. An international policy which does not force nations to make a choice between their sovereignty and feeding their people. An international policy which promotes respect for all humans, not just those who benefit us economically. An international trade policy which does not enable slavery and exploitation at home and abroad while sacrificing our ability to be independent in industry and agriculture at home. We need to be more than a nation of telemarketers and retailers or consumers.

I resolve work to make America live its stated principles and not make a mockery of them.

because all energy of this negativity and hatred needs to be channeled more constructively...starting right here. Let's get to work, people.

2. i was just thinking that it was time to start making new years resolutions...
i'm tired of feeling helpless and being a spectator to the world gone mad. every little action -- every letter to the editor... every meeting attending... is a step in the right direction. i've been sick for a very long time and excused myself from participating at the level that i used to. i thought i was protectiing my health, but it only makes me feel worse.

so, i'll join you in renewing my resolve to WORK for change. the world doesn't need any more spectators.

4. This year I want to get even more local. Beginning with teaching
at a local learning center for homeless workers who are trying to sharpen up some skills. I'm really looking forward to that. :)
