Breaking: Justice executed for War Crimes
I have a sick feeling in my stomach about this execution. I have had it since the announcement that the execution was going to take place "within 48 hours." It's not that I am sad to see Saddam hang. I'm not. He deserved to hang. What makes me sick is the total disregard for true justice. The Saddam trial wasn't about getting justice for the Iraqi people after 20+ year reign of terror. It was a circus side show to the war. The american puppet government that would fall without american support was urged to put Saddam on trial. The US State department prepared the case. The judges were hand selected. There was only going to be one verdict. Guilty. Everything about the Saddam trial was politically timed. The "verdict" was given 2 days before the election and the execution was performed 3 days before the Dems take over. The execution for some reason was carried out during the holiday season. I know that the Iraqi's are suffering far worse, but it's still disturbing. So much for "Peace on Earth" and looking forward to 2007. 2006 is another year gone by and nothing changes in Iraq.

The US had full control of Saddam. They could have passed him onto the Hague. Saddam would have been found guilty and he would probably have been executed. I would come out of that perfectly content. But Bush and their friends wanted the faux political imagery and manipulation of justice. They got it. Saddam is dead. Justice is dead. And America will always be remembered for the image below.

1. If Hussein had been handed over to the Hague
then he would have received a far different trial than the one in Iraq. His lawyers would have presented as evidence how the US and corporate America were complicit in his "gassing his own people" by supplying the chemicals needed to do the gassing. How the US president at the time, REAGAN, squelched any true condemnation of the act. How the US urged a young Saddam Hussein back in the 1960s to try and overthrow the Iraqi government at that time. How the US, via April Gillespie, told Iraq that it had no part in a border dispute between Iraq and Kuwait.

3. And....we wanted him "silenced" so he couldn't testify against us selling
him his chemicals and poisons in the Kurdish trial which is ongoing. We excecuted him (if we really did) to shut him up and possibly so that he couldn't come back given the misery that Bush/Cheney have caused in Iraq.

They need a "strong leader" in Iraq (so the Neo-Cons say) and what better "strong leader" than Saddam. :-(

for his crimes to see where NOT turning it over to the Hague is a wretchedly bad idea.
