Looking at the photo the NYT is leading with on its homepage, I am struck by the motley bunch of executioners. Hooded to protect their identities, they look like a gang of toughs from a B movie--or, on further reflection, like the hooded terrorists who in the earlier days of our occupation were murdering hostages like Nick Berg, on camera, for maximum shock value.

considering their social and political norms are much like the ones of europe many centuries ago, its no surprise to me that the executioners wore hoods. During the middle ages and for quite awhile afterwards almost every civilization on the planet did the same thing so i think you guys should calm down a little bit with this one

hanging, but saw a few seconds of the footage you mentioned before turning the channel this morning.

I too was struck by the hoods.

I couldn't help but think, 'This is what we have become. Doling out "justice" from behind black masks.'

I was saying that the group of thugs who did the killings looked eerily similar.
