I guess taking out the sex makes for a more straightforward mission. And the money's something the rest of us shouldn't be concerning ourselves with. So this is post-civilization.

I would have answered the poll with "agree" except that I don't agree with the use of the word "We": "We've become an empire ruled by a culture of death." I do not think that the American people are part of, or agree with, Bush's "culture of death." I think that it is something that has been foisted upon us. And this hanging image this morning is a good example of it. It is meant to invade our souls with Death as the only option in our culture, and more Death and War Profiteering as our fare for the coming year--a year that we would otherwise have felt hopeful about, given the Democratic election victories, and other events. And, in truth, 70% of the American people reject the Iraq War and all the Death that it has caused and all that it means. Saddam's hanging is, I think, a quite deliberate attempt to reverse our feeling of hope. What else has the Bush Junta accomplished, except Death? And they're stuffing it down our throats. It is appalling. But if you recognize it for what it is--brainwashing-- then you can fight it.

And I would say, be more careful in your use of the word "we."

While wing nuts beg for national video exposure, I think watching a man's neck stretch to the snapping point while his face is contorted in exaggerated agony and limbs helplessly twitch in midair would appeal only to the socially demented in any crowd.

I think the ghouls at Fox News greatly misjudge the character and stomach of America as a whole.
