I, College Republican, having avoided service ...
Edited on Sat Dec-30-06 03:43 PM by gulliver
I, College Republican ________________, having avoided service in a war I supported, do hereby solemnly swear and attest that:

  • I will hire American Veterans preferentially, including and especially disabled American Veterans to work in the businesses I inherit from my parents or in any business in which I have hiring authority. Moreover, I will accept no job offer that might otherwise go to an American Veteran.

  • I will give to American Veteran's causes and support all American Veteran's legislation, even if this means I must become a Democrat.

  • I will not disparage or otherwise question medals duly awarded to American Veterans from now on. I am deeply ashamed and regret having done so in the past.

  • I will not seek elective office in opposition to an American Veteran.

  • I will not attempt to win away the spouse or significant other of an American Veteran, either while they are deployed at war or upon their return, regardless of any mental or physical damage which they may have sustained to my advantage.

  • I will avert my eyes whenever a medaled American Veteran enters the room. I will utter no word of thanks to those who have earned the right never to endure hearing my voice.

  • I make a humble apology to all those who were right in opposing the Iraq War. I questioned their judgment and their patriotism, although both have proven superior to my own.

8. Love it!
One little tweak, maybe?

• Will enlist to serve in the armed forces and request Iraq duty.

9. If they enlist, they don't have to sign.

But I wouldn't hold my breath either way.

2. That is great for them, now don't leave out Kerry, Hillary,...
and everyone else that avoided service but supported the war. Hell, if the military won't take our own that voted for IWR and the Bush Dictatorship, just send their kids.

I want to make it clear that I am not taking issue that college repubs should take the pledge, rather it shouldn't be limited to them.

Which Kerry would you be referring to?

6. From the OP
"I, College Republican ________________, having avoided service in a war I supported"

Kerry supported the war as was evident in his vote and his campaign. He likely is too old to be accepted from the military so send his daughters, right?

7. Why should his daughters be held responsible for his vote?
Or Bush's for that matter?

Last time I checked, no one had a right to force their child to enlist and we don't punish children for the crimes or offenses of their parents.

15. This is a view
that doesn't seem to be widely accepted in certain circles here on DU.

Too bad. I think it's the correct one.

11. For pete's sake. Kerry didn't "avoid" service in this current war.
Let's be realistic here.

Kerry did serve in the Vietnam war, which is a whole lot more than can be said of Bush and his cronies.

12. It would be fun
to copy this, go down to a college Republican meeting, and pass them around, especially if you were with a bunch of veterans.
