9. Wow!!! Looks like Jerry will get GREAT seats at the...
...James Brown New Year's Eve concert!!! I love it... Just think of all those guys together!!!

I served under Gerald Ford (and Jimmy Carter) and it never bothered me that the CiC was a Republican. He was a member of the loyal opposition, and a decent man at the end of the day. He just wanted to be a lowly Congress-critter, but history had other plans for him. I salute him.

7. Ford's kids were pretty cool I hear
I read somewhere they actually smoked pot in the White House. Don't know if that's just a myth. Maybe some of the oldtimers can verify.

18. I always thought
of Susan as an awful person. She was here where I live when I was in college. In retrospect it was probably because her Secret Service always threw us out of the bar when she came in. They were pretty rough and we all thought she was a real creep because of that. She may actually have been OK, dunno, none of us were ever allowed close to her. Never heard the story about the dope, she did not seem the type but then you know how that goes.

19. Ford's nephew is my dentist,
in general just all in all a nice person. Unless you looked very closely in his office you would not have known he is the president's nephew other than the last name, until you saw the pictures of them together.

I remember these photos (at least the second one) from Nicholas Schaffner's book "The Beatles Forever." Best darned book on the Fab Four.

10. George's disasterous 1974 American tour
Promoting the "Dark Horse" album. George's voice was not well that year, and the critics called the album "Dark Hoarse." Jack Ford was at the DC concert, and invited the band to come over to the White House.

14. From "The Beatles Forever" ...
That tour was extensively filmed and recorded, though no "live LP" was ever released. At one point, all four Beatles were seen outside New York's Plaza Hotel, where George was staying. Rumors began to spread that there would be a reunion. Of course, it didn't happen on stage.

"One celebrity who did enjoy the concert was Jack Ford, who invited George to drop by his dad's place when the troupe played Washington. George turned up with Ravi and Billy, declared that he sensed 'good vibes' in the White House, and wound up swapping pleasantries and lapel buttons with President Ford. In exchange for an anti-inflation 'WIN' button, The Beatle presented the President with one bearing the Sanskrit legend 'OM'." (page 178)

16. Harrison is still loved. My band played to a packed house ...
last night and we play a lot of Harrisons music (Old Brown Shoe,While my guitar weeps, etc.) and everyone ( a lot of young people there) still loves the music.
He was great and his music lives on.

I did the one with George and Billy last night, and the group pic I did just a few moments ago after I saw your post.

George and Billy were and probably still are very colorful people and deserved some trippy colors.

Thanks for noticing.:hi:
