One item I read about the execution said it took place on a US military base |
|
Is that true? If so, why in the FUCK is there a gallows on a US military base?

1. What the fuck would it matter? This execution was as much a |
|
bush** regime operation as was a Shi'ite revenge killing. They might as well held it on the White House lawn.

2. I'm sure the merits of doing just that were considered, sigh... |

3. They're built for executions as needed, then disassembled. |

and the "equipment" looked...shall we say...well-used.

8. Didn't the U.S. take over former Saddam digs? |
|
Makes sense they'd still have gallows from back in the day.

10. You know, on a second look.... |
|
it seems to be stairs, and a support of some sort is taken away, and he hangs.

4. I wondered about that. But we couldn't let a Shia pull the rope, and |
|
a Sunni wouldn't. I guess we could have handed the Kurds a bunch of straws and let them handle it.

5. Here's an article that says Saddam was hanged at a U.S. military base |
|
"Witnesses said 14 Iraqi officials had attended the hanging, at the former military intelligence building in northern Baghdad, now part of an American base." http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061230/ZNYT03/612300464

7. The "former military intelligence building" may very well have had |
|
an execution room. But I thought part of our whole purpose of being in Iraq was to destroy all that shit. I think it's a question that needs to be asked.

It looked like that execution room in Abu Graib, remember the one herr gruppenfuhrur Paul Bremmer was so proud to show off on TV as an example of the barbarity we saved these poor ignorant people from. I think some jackoff US mercenaries went in to fix it up for the glorious events of last night.
You know, it had to be shiny for chimpy to watch over and over again with a nice bottle of lotion and a box of kleenex.
