5. not sure if it was Steven or a son in law, but cheney was holding Betty's hand
and motioned her to a different side, and then all of a sudden this guy cuts off cheney and helps her to the casket...

great move

president out of the way in such a public arena. it was great to see stephen frown upon cheney. priceless moment indeed.

32. I think it was son Jack Ford. It was wonderful that one of the children
helped his mother during this emotional moment in one of her final goodbyes to her husband of 58 years. Can't figure out why Cheney thought it would be his place to escort her.

3. I saw it, that was totally AWESOME. That poor wonderful woman.
I think you could tell she didn't want Darth to take her up to her deceased husband's casket to say her personal final goodbye.

Cheney walked out BEHIND the son and Mrs. Ford......

I loved it.

7. I only watched the very beginning and wondered ...
... why the hell they would have that crew of living dead acting as 'honorary pall bearers'?
Dole only has 1 working arm, Cheney can't walk half the time cause of his gout, one of those dudes was using a cane, a couple others looked like they were pushing 100 ...

What a bunch of crusty, rich, back-slappin' old white bastards.

All I could think of was "I wonder how many crimes have been committed between all of them, combined?"

9. Didn't see it but if they are crowding my mom
I'm doing the same thing. Gerald and Betty Ford were married to each other for many many years (I don't remember how many exactly) and Mrs. Ford is undoubtedly grieving at this time. She does not need a publicity hound like darth cheney to get a photo op. She needs the love and support of her family. Good for her son!

50. If I recall correctly, 2006 marked the Ford's 58th year of marriage.
And you're undoubtedly correct: Cheney's brazen maneuvering of Betty Ford was nothing more than a cold, calculated, and extremely cynical, attempt to portray himself as compassionate.

12. No, but I'm glad he did it.
Betty Ford needs to put her feet up and relax. This has been a real ordeal for her at the age of 88 (89 next April).

This GOP pomp is ridiculous. Former presidents need to smarten up and insist on quick cremation and a short memorial service instead of having their bodies shipped all over the country and their families put through a multi day marathon of imperial ceremony.

If so, watch again - while Cheney was speaking, the camera cut to Steven and he looked like he was grinding his teeth in agony and glaring at Cheney. I don't think he's too popular with the Ford family since he became a deranged warmonger...

...I'm sure it will be up on Youtube soon.

I can't imagine being next to the Court Jester of Death--as I said good-bye to my
beloved husband.

Thank God her son rescued her.

Obviously, Cheney understood how the Ford family felt. He took it upon himself
to worm into the epicenter for a photo op.

What a third-class thug.

17. You know? Anyone can say anything they want about Gerald Ford,
but I was in my 30's when he became president, and we felt blessed because the dipshit Nixon resigned...It was kind of embarrassing, when Nixon resigned and raised his 2 hands at the helicopter...I felt so sorry for his family.

Why don't we disgrace Bus* and put him out to pasture on a helicopter???

What's the difference in the 70's...or 2007?????????????????????

We need to get rid of this DISGRACEFUL piece of shit in the whitehouse.
God I hate that man. And I hate Cheney even worse.

And Rummy is snow bound in Mexico. I hope forever...

21. I missed it but I am sure the Ford family is aware of the problem
Nancy Reagan encountered when Cheney left her at the casket. They had probably discussed stepping up and taking over if Cheney acted like he did last time. Cheney is a thoughtless, clueless boob. Nancy nearly fell when he left her stranded at the casket. Apparently she has/had cataracts and could not see where the step down was.

who looked like she was directing him to get Betty to the other side. It looked to me like Cheney's bald head turned a bright red.

Even though they sat together, I don't remember Betty saying much of anything to him. She looked straight ahead and ignored him. I wonder how she'll accept GW.
