Republics calling into WJ this a.m. begging Dems not to impeach *
It's like an orchestrated effort. Focus on anything but impeachment. One woman even identified herself as as a Dem and then went on to say she had voted for *.

2. Investigate and Impeach
that's all I want for the New Year.
Great call from a 69 year old black woman. Classic rant.

3. Yeah, I heard that too.
As much as I would like to see Bush held accountable for his actions, I am more interested in having the country learn and come to grips with the real reasons that we invaded Iraq. Most of the reasons that are being thrown around just don't add up.

The Neo-Conartist crime syndicate that planned the invasion years before 911 did so for some very specific reasons. They didn't do it for oil, they didn't do it to bring Democracy to the Iraqi people, they didn't do it out of a desire to get justice for the Kurds.

NO, they did it for another reason alltogether. Until we are able to openly discuss that reason, we will never be able to effectively stop this kind of crap from happening again.

16. Actually, I think
different groups had different reasons. I think a carefull analysis of the PNAC group and any potential conflicts of interest among that group is in order.

17. bush & his Cabal already gave the real reason; "the country is swimming
on a sea of oil."

Funny how the US "media" isn't bothering to report that much.

13. You have hit on the one thing that could unite the Iraqis
behind their government. As long as the trial was ongoing, there would be no violence.

8. Re: Impeachment
They were as focused on impeaching Clinton like hungry dogs were focused on a big, fat, juicy steak.
And now, we're not supposed to impeach Bush for leading into war for no reason at all? Bullshit!

I say impeach him. I even sent a snail mail to Nancy Pelosi's office, as part of the 500,000 campaign.

11. Now WHY would they be thinking we'd want to impeach Bush?
Do they mention what crimes they think we think he's committed?

Or are they calling it payback for Bill?

When they call in, I sure would like somebody to be asking why they think there are grounds for impeachment.

12. The Constitution requires that Bush be impeached.
(snip)

The Constitution requires that the President "take care that the laws be faithfully executed." Former Congresswoman and Judiciary Committee Member Elizabeth Holtzman in her new book, The Impeachment of George W. Bush, argues that Bush's neglect of New Orleans (and other presidential duties) violated this responsibility and so constitute high crimes and misdemeanors. Holtzman puts into this category as well the administration's failure to provide U.S. troops in Iraq with proper body armor, and the failure of the President and his top officials to plan for the occupation of Iraq.

In their book, The Case for Impeachment, Dave Lindorff and Barbara Olshansky make a similar argument about Bush's failure to attempt to prevent the attacks of September 11, 2001 and his obstruction of investigations into those crimes (as do Dennis Loo and Peter Phillips in their book Impeach the President).

The same two books, along with the Bush Crimes Commission in its "verdict," also suggest that, by denying the existence of, enacting policies that increase, and failing to work to decrease global warming, Bush has committed perhaps the most serious offense possible -- in the words of Loo and Phillips, "placing oil-industry profits over the long-term survival of the human race and the viability of the planet."

The Bush Crimes Commission finds the President's imposition of abstinence-only policies on countries being ravaged by AIDS to be a serious crime against humanity. Loo and Phillips charge Bush with "violating the constitutional principle of separation of church and state through the interlinking of theocratic ideologies in the decision-making process of the U.S. government."

14. They don't need to worry. The Democrats lack
the party discipline to engage on a concerted impeachment effort. The Republicans had their media machine, financed in large part by RM Scaife, as well as the talk radio echo chamber. Heck I suspect there are Air America hosts who don't want the Dems to go for impeachment.

15. NEVER before has impeachment been more warranted!
Invading a sovereign nation under false pretenses is only the starting point. We have 6 years of reasons that need to be examined and addressed. If Clinton's behavior set the standard for impeachment then certainly no mercy should be shown to Bush and Cheney. And it would be for the good of the nation. The damage that has been to this country's reputation in the eyes of the world is unforgivable.

18. then they arent innocent, ignorant or unaware. sounds like they
know there are reasons to impeach bush. they cannot be saying bush has done nothing wrong if they are so worried about impeachment. and if that is the case, fuck it.... he gets what he deserves and what all of us have to pay if we break the law
