wouldn't Elizabeth Edwards be a helluva First Lady?
:)

I have no made up my mind who I will vote for in the far, far away primary, and last time I did not vote for John Edwards, but I will say this, his wife is something special. What a wonderful woman!

Dem candidates typically seem to have very interesting wives. Like in 2004, all the married candidates had wonderful wives. I liked Judy Dean quite a bit. Theresa Kerry etc.

It's fun watching smart, non-Stepford women on the campaign trail. This next year should be great. Especially since Kucinich found himself a great woman as well. :)

1. Michelle Obama
she would be a great first lady. Classy, smart, professional woman. She's like the new Jackie O.
She is charming and intellegent and personable.
I think she would be dynamic.

4. absolutely...
I first saw her on C-SPAN - I think she was somewhere in Iowa, it was early in the morning, and she was sitting in that crummy little C-SPAN trailer and I thought, god, what a horrible thing to be a candidate's wife. Then I listened and was blown away - she's smart, funny, and very politically savvy. Tough without having a hard edge.

Hell, I wish she'd run for president herself!

6. now that would be something
I think she might be too smart to ever actually want to be president. That is one major flaw in our system. To even want to be president in the first place is insane. :)

5. I haven't made up my mind, either, but I agree, she would be a great first lady.
I saw her on Tweety's last week, and she didn't take any crap-ola from him at all, yet she challenged him in such a classy way. She made him look like an idiot.

10. I can't remember exactly what Tweety asked her, but her reply was a classic.
She just looked at him, kept smiling and said, "I beg your pardon?". It was great. Shut him right down.

7. First Lady? She'd make a helluva president!
I saw her hosting a "town meeting" on C-span during the 2004 campaign where she fielded unscripted questions, and she came across as brilliant, charming, and down-to-earth. She gave savvy, well-informed, and accessible answers on everything from stem cells to economics. I am a big fan of Elizabeth Edwards.

13. I was going to say that!
I was there when she came to town to host a town meeting on healthcare. I got to shake her hand. :D She was awesome and handled some rough questions with grace and ease. She owned that room, even though half of the people there weren't Dems. She should run herself.

18. omg they are so adorable
Jack and Emma Claire. So cute. :)

I remember in '04 on Nightline or some show they followed Edwards on the VP trail and Koppel or someone asked Jack what he thought of Bush, and he goes: "He's stupid." haha! His dad goes: "now, Jack, be nice we don't want to get hit for being negative campaigners. It was the funniest thing ever hearing that little guy say that.

I almost said "wives" but can't forget Bill :) When you compare them to the GOP spouses, no contest.

Wouldn't it be fun to Koffee Klatch with Elizabeth, Tipper, Judy and Theresa, better yet, sip some lovely wine :) I look forward to learning about the other wives, I'm sure every bit as special as these ladies!

I too would love to see Elizabeth and all their great kids in the White House.

I love it! Elizabeth Edwards tends to put her foot in her mouth, but overall, she is an awesome role model for young women everywhere. Just another example of a woman who can "have it all," so to speak.

Photo taken by ultraist at the Edwards 08 Homecoming Rally, December 30, Chapel Hill, NC

Over 5,000 people at that rally. And those kids don't look a bit nervous!

Elizabeth is wearing a red jacket of strength and courage (not quite the same as 2004). It reminds me of her story from Saving Graces in which she bought a red jacket the same day she discovered her a lump on her breast. Still campaigned.

What a lady.

30. I liveblogged the Chapel Hill Rally!
There were around 5000 people there to welcome home John and Elizabeth Edwards. I think they personally knew most of the crowd. LOL! They have a lot of friends and supporters here in the Triangle and throughout the state.

Liveblog diary updated with video of the rally: http://blog.johnedwards.com/story/2006/12/30/155853/33

just that he likes Elizabeth Edwards.

I don't vote for people based on their spouses either, but it's nice to point out when a candidate has a good one. Spouses can be a huge influence on the candidate, and it can be something to consider.

when she gave a speech on health care at my local YWCA and took time for hours worth of questions.
Kind, not self-absorbed, beautiful mind and looks, and impeccable with in depth knowledge and understanding of the issues.

Any of these fine ladies discussed in this thread would make a better president than any number of other people.

Edwards would be handsom decorating the White House. Clark, I can see him running the Easter Egg toss. Kucinich reading stories to children about peace. Kerry laying a wreath at the grave of a soldier.

Lets hear it for the girls!!!!
