just received a recorded phone msg from Charlie Rangel (D, NY)
wishing me a happy new year and looking forward to the new Congress, etc..
Also got a Christmas card from him!

that's odd, i live in Maryland.

I love Rangel, and it's nice to be on his list, but it seems like a waste of money since i'm not a constituent.

My Rep, used to be Ben Cardin, never sent me cards or phone messages.:( Maybe the new rep, whatshisname?, Paul Sarbanes's kid, will ... :)

1. I just got one too
And I'm in Georgia. What's neat about it is that I sent his campaign $50.00 a couple of years ago when he was somewhat on the ropes. Since then I've gotten cards and letters and now a phone call. Charlie apparently keeps a list of contributors or correspondents and pings them regularly with news, Christmas cards, etc. Glad to see we're getting organized.

2. my rep inundated me wit form letters
and with postcards with his puss on it. I'd rather have not received anything - a form letter is insulting.

But a christmas card from Rangel would be cool. Great guy!

5. PS
I used to live in Steny Hoyer's district in Maryland. And I don't care what people say about him...I had a terrible mix up with social security and it wasn't my fault. HE HAD IT STRAIGHTENED OUT IN ONE DAY. And I have met him in person. He is nice. Way back before he was whip he used to come into the MVA office where I worked. He stood in line, did not ask for help and took his turn. The only way he ever got thru quicker is if, the ASSt MGR would spot him and work on his papers personally. Not like some of the politicans who used to come thru there. We had a republican representative who would walk in the office and demand special service right away. And if it took a while he would browbeat the manager. He was an ass. But Gordon Liddy now he was a very polite person and did not demand extra service. Altho, again if he was spotted the Asst would push him thru. Could you believe it.
