"Whatever you do might seem insignificant.....
But, it is very important that you do it."

This is a quote from Mahatma Ghandi, my hero. And it is the greatest truth that I know of. I live my life by it.

Do any of you have favorite quotes that you use to steer your lives?

2. "Gandhi on Non-Violence"
by Thomas Merton is a wonderful book of commentary on compassion and non-violence. I also have a book of Gandhi quotes that I have collected over many decades. I will list two of my favorites, one short and one long:

{1} What you think, you become.

{2} I count no sacrifice too great for seeing God face to face. The whole of my activity, whether it is called social, political, humanitarian, or ethical, is directed to that end. And as I know that God is found more often in the lowliest of his creatures than in the high and mighty, I am struggling to reach the status of these. I cannot do so without their service. Hence my passion for the service of the suppressed classes. And as I cannot render this service without entering politics, I find myself in them.

10. One never rises so high as when one does not know where one is going.
by Oliver Cromwell

I used that as a reference when I was young, but I think it actually got me into some trouble. Now I think you need to have an idea of where you are going.

That's about the best description of integrity I've heard in the last 50 years.
