Jon Corzine selling New Jersey Highways to the highest bidder
For those of you in New Jersey, you may want to give your Senator a phone call and/or visit to his New Jersey office.

Highway Robbery

Governor Jon Corzine intends to sell New Jersey's toll roads to private investors for $10 billion.

Selling or leasing publicly owned toll roads degrades our public and financial security.

Toll road takeovers led by Goldman Sachs, where Governor Corzine was the Chairman and CEO before taking elected office, prove the point.

Goldman Sachs took the Indiana Toll Road and the Chicago Skyway private in 2005. Goldman invested its own money in both deals. Goldman worked every side of these deals, collecting fees as lobbyists, deal makers and investors.

1. New Jerseyites, don't fall for this. Keep ownership of your roads.
Blackwell wanted to sell the Ohio TurnPike and we defeated him in the last election.

Selling off your assets for a few dollars in hand now is crazy.

7. That's what I was thinking.
Next thing you know he'll want to sell off the lottery like good ol' Mitch.

3. Rendell is talking about doing same damn thing in PA
Or hitting us up with 12.5 cents more in gas tax - and we're not exactly low gas tax now!

4. Mayor Daley sold the Chicago skyway. We still don't know where the money went
and of course Chicago is broke and real estate taxes are expected to go up by 30%

So they sell the roads we paid for with our tax dollars. Where they put the money is hidden. Then they still want to increase our taxes while at the same time cut schools and services. Welcome to the third world folks.

Infrastructure being sold off to the highest bidder. We paid to build it, it is ours, now they sell it and we get to pay forever more to use it. Sounds fair to me. They're doing it in Texas, too! I guess the question is where aren't they selling the People's property? Shouldn't we at least be consulted via a referendum or something? Oh, wait I lost my head, briefly thought this was one of those "Democracies" like Iraq or somewhere...

8. I like Corzine, but I think this is a bad move
Selling off public assets is a bad idea.

9. We don't have toll roads
I think the first step is to call their bluff on the toll roads and demand they be ended once and for all. We don't have them in the west, I don't think anywhere. Travel is like the most basic right there is, goes back to the Magna Carta. This is what happens when you let them start telling you necessities are privileges.
