What should the government do about high oil profits?
Interesting poll at CNNMoney:
http://money.cnn.com/

Halfway down the page on the right.

What should the government do about profits such as the record annual earnings posted by Exxon Mobil?

Impose a windfall tax 24%
Impose oil price controls 27%
Leave the company alone 44%
Not sure 5%

1. Distribute them to the programs they have robbed.

2. Collect the dough and send a fat check to the friends and families of
Iraqi victims of the U.S.'s shock-and-awe bombing campaign.

What Exxon-Mobil made last year should foot the bill for a few hospitals, electrical power, schools, and a free press.

3. Those who want nothing to be done are the minority.
Those who want something done end up ahead by 7 points; 12 if you include the indecisive halfwits.

7. and Bushit's answer to the problem was to blame Americans for
an oil "addiction." I was impressed that he could pronounce the word but then again being addicted to coke gives him a leg up in the addiction arena!

5. I want to know why taxpayer money is still going to these guys.
They can look for their own oil.

8. The Government and Big Oil are one and the same.
"Taxing" them is like transferring money from the Mobil division of Exxon/Mobil to the Exxon division.

11. I lived in Wyoming
during the late 70's and early 80's. I remember also. They (oil companies) will survive until they are made obsolete by NO MORE OIL.

And obsolete they will become.

10. So, repugs vote for higher prices but they don't want to pay their taxes
while cheering on an enormously expensive and unnecessary war. OK.
