Super bowl Homeland Security sweep. Sign of things to come?
DHS checking out employees at motels and other business that may be related to the super bowl in the Detroit area. One woman already deported. I hope this type of security will be limited to special events and not become to routine.

1. Another HS sweep in Boyes Hot Springs, CA (near small town of Sonoma)
Don't think I would even call Boyes Hot Springs a town.

It is where the prestigious Sonoma Mission Inn is located which caters to Yuppies from the Bay Area.

Immigration 'sweep' rumored in Springs

By Jason Walsh INDEX-TRIBUNE NEWS EDITOR Monday, January 30, 2006 5:59 PM PST

01.31.06 - Reports that Homeland Security officials have been snooping around the Boyes Hot Springs area have many in the local Latino community fearful that immigration sweeps for undocumented workers are under way.

Buzz about a sweep began on Jan. 19, when vans that appeared to be marked with Homeland Security insignias were parked at the Fiesta Plaza shopping center along Highway 12. Soon, calls to La Luz Center - which provides support for the area Latino population - poured in from frightened community members saying that immigration officers were out questioning Latinos. One unconfirmed report even had officers taking two Hispanic men away in a van - neither of whom have been seen since, neighbors said.
