Shout out to PBS and BET for their Black History programming.
Edited on Thu Feb-02-06 01:19 PM by cantstandbush
The show featuring the tracing of family roots of several famous blacks (Oprah, Dr. Ben Carson, etc) was absolutely stunning and enlightening. The BET comedy show, "The 25 Most F****ed Up Moments in Black History" was a real hoot. I love the way people can laugh at themselves and take away at least some of the sting and satisfaction of the oppressor. It happens all over the world but we are much to arrogant to understand or appreciate the integrity of righteous defiance.

2. I find the African American culture
in general laugh at themselves quite heartily...at least my friends do. I learn much from them.

4. I will now pay more attention to my children when they tell me what
they learned in history class. I confess, so much of other people's culture Americans are ignorant about, even culture of the people they oppress at home and abroad.
